Nice app for newbies to wine
They have interesting wines at good prices. As someone with little wine knowledge but and interest in learning more, I like the way they chat you through the wines. They seem to make a concious effort to make accessible to newbies like myself. I had a problem with my 1st box getting smashed in the post and they sorted it out right away. I like the way the app has changed over the past year too. It’s very user friendly.

The wines are very good but the sale is a bit pushy

It’s ok, it’s a good premise but it depends on the wine consumer you are. If you like your expensive bottles then it may be worth your while but if your happy with bottles of wine from the general supermarket for under £10, the app and fee is wasted on you (like myself). What I really didn’t like is how you have to fill up your cellar (your basket) and as soon as you fill it up, it goes out for delivery and charges you. So I was just browsing putting multiple in my cellar/ basket and i wake up next day to being charged £60 with all those out for delivery. that’s enough for me to cancel my membership. There should be a final step to process and confirm your order.. like most places have

Some decent wines and fast reply to questions.I’ve seem some wines they are supposed to be discounted but can find on other wine shops online at the same if not cheaper prices (without £90 joining fee). They are good deals and I like the convenience but I have to check ever buy to make sure it is what it appears to be and a good deal.

Any issue I have with Winedrops is my fault for not properly understanding the model. The App works as designed. I just misunderstood. I didn’t like the high membership charge, and then the high per bottle prices. I didn’t like the fact that as soon as you add anything to the cart you are billed and as a default a delivery is despatched upon completion of a case. This can be adjusted. But I don’t know this at the start. Like everything else, it was my own fault. The wine was always excellent. So, if you like the model and nice wine then it’s great.

Delayed access to my account but now I am in the wine options are low. I am however looking forward to trying the service in full and enjoying a range of wines I might not have tried before.

I saw their ad on Facebook so I downloaded the app, and after a few days they charged me 90 pounds membership fee without notifying me, and later they claimed it’s not refundable but they gave me 50 pounds credit so I ordered 6 bottles of wines because their minimum delivery amount is 6 bottles at least. Because I wasn’t at home for few days so I chose to deliver my wine to service point it is in my local shop. Today I went to collect it the shop staff said they need a pick up code which I didn’t receive any so I have to contact their customer service team but didn’t get any response so I back home I found they dropped my package in front of my door.

When you press buy the money comes straight out of your account. I thought you could pay at the end when you have all items for a case.

I’ve been ordering a case of 12 for almost two years now. I joined by accident basically because I did the trial and missed the cancellation date and was charged £90 which they wouldn’t refund. When the year was up I rang to cancel but missed the cut off date again. Again they refused to cancel. They did however give me a credit on my account and I took this opportunity to order more expensive wines thinking they would be much nicer. Some were some weren’t. Each time I thought might as well use the subscription. I have to say the so called ‘cheaper’ (£8-£10) wines were barely palatable to mediocre. The more expensive I bought were just ok with a few worth reordering. The clincher to cancelling my subscription was when I found some of same wines for £1-£2/bottle cheaper with the added benefit of no delivery costs. One good idea is that you can rate the wines you have bought in your ‘cellar’ so you can see which you liked and which you didn’t. I didn’t find this feature until halfway through my second year and couldn’t remember what I liked and didn’t🤦â€â™€ï¸ but it’s definitely a good feature. Also, I like that you can buy the wines and have them ‘put away’ so you don’t have to fork out £100+ all at once for a full case, you gradually ‘build’ your case as you want then when you reach your preferred 6 or 12 your delivery is automatically triggered. The other thing is I got soooo many emails from Jonny@Winedrops I didn’t notice, if I got one, the notification that my subscription was up and another £90 would be coming out of my account. You do get a free bottle of Chateau-Neuf-du-Pape with each renewed subscription (supposedly worth £90+) but then you’ve paid £90 subscription so is it really ‘free’.If I could be certain I would like more of the wines I may have kept my subscription but to find them cheaper elsewhere was a bit of a blow.

Seems well worth while. Just placed an order

Signed up to this in March this year. Was previously with Naked Wines , but was finding they were getting a bit expensive. This seemed like a good alternative. Sadly , not. Good workable app based. Unfortunately after 3 12 bottle cases I have decided to call it a day. Have been majorly disappointed with the wines. Found most of them to be quite bland and lacking taste. Shame. As I thought I had found my new wine supplier.

weird that you can’t add to cart and you have to buy straight away?

Charges you for every bottle immediately, before you’ve even ordered enough to delivered in a box! Money-grabbing initial charges and delivery fees make this a less favourable deal. Be weary.

Not ideal that you are charged as soon as you add a bottle to your cart, so if you don’t find 6 you like tough it’s too late you need to keep going until you have 6 bottles and a 6.99 delivery charge!

Close, but no cigar.
I really enjoyed my first 6 bottle case. Like most things in life “the hook” is usually good.
I initially halted my application on the app when I hit the £90 membership, as I felt that was steep. Although the “discounts” suggested I would be getting far better quality wines at better prices and therefore recoup the outlay with the wines. I then received a phone call and was promised a bottle of champagne if I signed up. I did sign up but still haven’t received my champagne.
The main issue I have is with the “discounts” as the wines are good but are generally at market price. It is a running joke with my daughter, as we share the wine. to see how close we can get the wine, via google, to the Winedrops price. We usually get to within two pounds. Now, before I hear you say £2 is £2, remember there is delivery (about £1 a bottle) and the £90 annual membership.
I will not be renewing.
That said, the wines are interesting and generally good. The deals are just not as good as they promote.
And I’m guessing I won’t win the £500 bottle of wine with this review, honest and balanced as it is. ☺️

Beware the £90 non refundable charge they call a subscription. Currently disputing the return of mine. Having cancelled 11 days after sign up. Well within the statutory period of 14 days.Agreed to refund

Good prices. Selection is limited. Most of the wine has been great, some has been poor. While prices are indeed competitive, the actual RRP’s are often fabricated or exaggerated, which gives the impression you’re saving vast amounts more than if you’d have bought the wine directly. I was also told by a rep that my account wouldn’t auto-renew, and that I’d be contacted – this wasn’t the case, and I was charged another £90 for my yearly membership.

The wines are nice. The prices are a bit random, as are the discounts. That dispatch is triggered by purchase of a sixth bottle is irritating and makes it quite expensive

Pretty good although they don’t tell you when they are charging you for a subscription

Very seductive – too easy to buy wine on impulse. Good range of short offers and offers lesser known wines. Not convinced of huge discounts. Wine-searcher dot com finds similar prices. Note annual membership fee of £90 and added shipping costs.

Felt a bit pressured into making a purchase. Having had a phone call with a representative, I was charged for membership after agreeing with the representative that it wasn’t the right service for me.
Joan Joh from Customer Care gave me £90 credit so I could try out the delivery (which may not work for my address).
I put bottles up to £90 value in my basket but found it difficult to check/change my order- looking into it, I can email to cancel and refund the bottles in the basket.
Not sure what will happen next as our apartments post often gets stolen… will find out in the next couple of day. Fingers crossed our wine arrives!
