READ THEIR SIGN UP EMAIL CAREFULLY!! Having downloaded the app thinking I could use it occasionally to buy birthday presents I was shocked to see a charge of £90 leave my bank today for their annual membership. Having contacted their customer services asking for a refund (having not bought any wine) they just referred back to their introduction email which hidden in the depths of the message referenced this fee. I feel so misled by their stealth tactics and will not be recommending them to anybody until their advertisements and communication make it clear what you’re signing up to. Still waiting on their answer on whether I’m entitled to a full or partial refund.UPDATE – They have now been in touch and provided a full refund which I’m glad to see. They’ve even followed up with a phone call to understand the situation. Great to see they’ve put things right but again I’d highly recommend they make it clearer in their advertisements and sign up process that a fee is chargeable and as such might not be applicable for the occasional buyer. Upgraded review from 1 to 3 stars on the basis they seem to care but wouldn’t rank higher until they address the above issues RE subscription fees. That being said, if you’re a serious wine buyer then I could see how Winedrops would work for you!!

Sceptical to be honest. A salesman said that their margins were very low because they made their profit and running costs from subscriptions. Now it appears that their margins are similar to other retailers on their lower priced wines and when questioned they returned the longest and most complicated and convoluted excuse/reason for their pricing. Some wines even with massive “discounts “ are very expensive.

Good site for wine lovers, just not for me
Site and deals look good, however need to sign up to view them. Initially 10 day free trial then charged a subscription free, this is where I feel the company falls down as there is no reminder the trial is coming to an end, the money is just taken. However, when I contacted them they were very responsive and helpful.

I am frustrated that I was charged £90 for an annual informative subscription without explicit consent. To make matters worse, I keep receiving numerous unsolicited offers, which feel overwhelming and intrusive.

Thinking it’s very good idea to have wines from the world but price wise not very competitive should be more incentive’s

Update: they agreed to refund me because I had requested by email to cancel within the 10 day trial period. I am still leavung this review here because Conor was such an aggressive salesman who was so pushy a d wouldnt let me have time to think about the trial at all and wouldnt even let me choose my own bottle of wine. Terrible rep for the company! But I am a bit happier and now I have the chance to actually try the service out! Whoch I didnt get from Conor who told me I was on a free trial which i ended up not being able to access. Was contacted by a rude man called Conor who basically refused to let me hang up and sadly i was too polite to just hang up so i agreed to a free trial, paid 10 pound for a bottle of wine he chose for me…i had no say in that…which i will never receive because i have no access to an account, couldnt log in to an account so never got to try the free trial. I emailed Conor to ask to make sure the free trial was canceled and the 90 pound wouldnt be taken but he never bothered to reply. I guess he had got what he wanted. Now they have taken 90 pound, i have no access tl any account and have no way to use the so called service. What a scam. Ive emailed requesting a refund. If i get it i will update this.

Echo what most people are saying on this site regarding sign up and subsequent £90 subscription taken from my bank.It is in the T&Cs regarding the subscription but I don’t think it is made clear enough, so just make sure you’re aware of what you’re signing up to and cancel in the 10 day trial if not for you.I contacted the customer service team afterwards who were helpful, responsive and polite and are a credit to the company.

I could join all these people who put 1 star, but here is my story. And saying hello to Jonny , business owner, as well, as definitely you remember me as an aggressive customer, and I’m ready my review after this will be deleted straight away and I would be put to your black list .Like many of us , I was charged £90 for subscription, what I used first 5 min and just didn’t enter an app. Without adding a bank card it’s not usableAfter some emails of asking money back , I received script phrases, like ‘it is impossible, ‘see our t&c’ , etc , and a link to some article on the well-known website, about exemption of 14 days cooling-off period (the most legit link, isn’t it?). I know from experience, that almost everywhere is possible to get money back, knowing a legislation, or at least to withdraw from a contract with a minor loss.I literally was bombing with emails about that I’m not satisfied with a service and sudden charge from my card after 5 days adding it. Eventually they told me it’s only when that trial period is over , although in t&c not mentioned quantity of trial days.I referred to Consumer Rights Act 2015 about digital goods, with 5 paragraphs , and was insistent that I’m dissapointed with misleading information towards me from them. After some emails they said sorry admitting that and eventually I got money back.In the conclusion I would like just to suggest users to know their rights properly and read t&c and legislation carefully and to a business to be more transparent with the customers , to receive less angry reviews, modifying t&c.So being fair in my review , I will put 1 star is for the wide range of wines (especially good offers of luxury ones), 1 for good communication through emails , and 3rd one for actually giving back my money. -2 stars for the business way misleading customers and thinking they are not going to notice something is charged , how also using their legal illiteracy. So it’s up to you , use Winedrops, or not. If you are real wine lover , then maybe subscription would be even paid back. If not, I suggest to cancel subscription ASAP (better if it is couple days) or don’t download it at all to avoid the problems.

Felt a bit pressured into making a purchase. Having had a phone call with a representative, I was charged for membership after agreeing with the representative that it wasn’t the right service for me.Joan Joh from Customer Care gave me £90 credit so I could try out the delivery (which may not work for my address).I put bottles up to £90 value in my basket but found it difficult to check/change my order- looking into it, I can email to cancel and refund the bottles in the basket. Not sure what will happen next as our apartments post often gets stolen… will find out in the next couple of day. Fingers crossed our wine arrives!

Went in to look around at the prices of wine, simply to see what was on offer. There was no mention of being charged £90 to look at prices. A welcome email, when downloading the app suggested what a subscription could be and not a date/ any details of when I would be charged this amount. Although in the faqs it says cancel before charged. No dates were given, no timelines no reminder emails. No you’ve signed up to a month trial, cancel before this date etc.As I have never purchased any wine I can’t comment on the overall service. But I would suggest to avoid any company who in a cost of living crisis are taking £90 out of peoples banks accounts without permission and without providing a services are to be avoided.Update – I was refunded, after the dates was just with their free trial period.

Pretty fair. They sent the wine as expected with prompt delivery at a good price.
However, only being given a choice of a few wines at a time on the app has turned me away from using it further. It is possible to buy the wines they advertise at the same or similar prices elsewhere without the delivery or membership charges. The really super deals they show in their advertisements are seemingly never actually available.
Not bad. Not a rip off. But few (if any) benefits.

Edited: Winedrops have now reimbursed my £90. You have a 14 day cooling off period, so if you realise your error in time you ahould get your money back.Just had £90 taken from my account without permission. I had a look at the wines when I first got the app but didn’t think the prices were that great so didn’t order any wine. I was so shocked to see a massive £90 go out of my account last night.I have emailed requesting a refund. There is no phone number so you can’t speak to a human!

Given one star because wouldn’t allow me to give noneI looked at the app and had to enter card details to be able to browse I then had £90 taken from my bank account for membership which I didn’t sign up to and they now refuse to refund my money even though I’ve contacted them straight away and not used their services at allScammers that obviously don’t care about customer serviceEdit winedrops finally refunded my £90

Perfect for some, not so much for others
There are some really good deals, however I have found you can find some of them online for cheaper or similar but without the delivery cost. Customer service is quite quick too. I’d say if you’re someone who collects wine or buys a high volume of good wine regularly, then definitely get a membership. However if you just buy 7-9 quid bottles from the shop once a week, then you’re probably best just sticking to doing what you’re already doing.

8/6/24. Received response from Winedrops apologising for any lapses and deliver charge refunded. A listening and responsive customer service which is good. I will change my rating to take account.5/6/24. I was asked to provide specific identifying information which I have so duly, including name, 1 of the 4 receipt reference, contact information. Only thing I can add is that once I received a response from customer services, I was provided with a tracking number and the product was efficiently delivered.2/6/24. After assertive sales on telephone, was offered a 10 day trial. However, access to offers only lasted less than 24 hrs. It required me to sign up for the annual membership. emails of offers also stopped and I could not see any new offers.Payment was taken immediately upon adding to cellar and once 6 was reached I was charged delivery with confirmation of delivery in process. However even after 3 days the tracking was not available.Wrote to their customer services who took more than a day to respond with confirmation of order in process of delivery; but no attention to why the 10 day trial stopped after less than a day. Wines have arrived but I cancelled as there was no point in the absence of any new offers. Whilst there are wines to be purchased with discounts these are mostly ‘higher ends’ and none of the ones pictured in their ads such as 19 crimes as an example. In a nutshell, the products appear to be limited to the offers they release, but my access was guillotined after a day instead of 10; so whether a full membership is worth it is questionable. Also they only seen interested in vigorously recruiting new members with a lure of a very ‘reduced’ bottle and as in my case a spurious free trial period.

Not many options, not well known brands, ie Malbec from Argentina only one item and not a very good one; in the publicity it spears a bottle of champagne Veuve Clicquot, but it does not appear in the website/ app as an option to buy; it is misleading.

I feel the service was not as advertised. Vast majority are French wines and there are very few under £10. This is not what I was told when subscribing. It is extra for delivery which adds up. You need to look at the prices online as wine can often be bought cheaper elsewhere. I have cancelled my subscription.

Review prices on Vivino before buying
Delivery of ordered wines is very quick. However prices given by Winedrops vary from what is shown in Vivino and generally much higher so perhaps discounts suggested are not as big as quoted or for some bottles no discount at all!

Items arrived quickly, but process not explained well. Hadn’t realised items were being purchased rather than being placed in a ‘basket’. So didn’t have a chance to fully review selection.

Update on 23/5/24: They have refunded my membership fee so fair play to the company. They offer you a free 10 day trial then £7.95 a month. But, in the trial you don’t have full access to the wines on offer, only the ones they let you see. So you think, for £7.95 let’s see what else they offer. But, on the 11th day they charge you £90 for the year. When you get access to the site you realise that the wines are not great and quite expensive so you cancel only to be told that you cannot get a refund or continue membership. Its a scam

Wines are reasonably priced but obscure so difficult to find comparisons in the UK market. However, they are not always the cheapest. I don’t like paying for delivery when already paid for the wines.
