Slightly too sweet for me but a good wine for the price

Great wine for the money. Would buy again.

Chateau d’Hanteillan, Haut Medoc Cru Bourgeois, 2019

Decent quality for the price, would have given it 5* if it was a few quid cheaper. But it’s a lovely heavy bottle, easy drinking with velvety tannins from the French oak.

This is in my opinion a cracking bottle fruity easy to drink and great value

The Winedrops app is straightforward and intuitive to navigate, making the whole experience pleasantly hassle-free. My only minor point of confusion was around the purchasing process — it wasn’t entirely clear that items are bought immediately upon selection, rather than being added to a basket for review before checking out, which is the more familiar flow on most shopping platforms. Once I understood how it worked, everything made perfect sense, but a small prompt or explanation at that stage would be a helpful touch for new users. Overall, a solid and well-designed app.

Winedrops offers a genuinely impressive selection, which makes the whole experience of browsing and choosing a bottle an enjoyable one in itself. There’s something satisfying about picking out a wine and looking forward to opening it in the future. A solid four-star experience overall.

Mr Matt Trant

Ordering from Winedrops was a genuinely straightforward experience from start to finish. The website made it easy to browse and select, and the free shipping was a welcome bonus that removed any hesitation at checkout. As for the wine itself — it was absolutely amazing. The quality really delivered on its promise, and it was clear that care had gone into the selection. A solid all-round experience, and the combination of convenience, complimentary delivery, and excellent wine makes it easy to recommend. Looking forward to ordering again.

The wine is every bit as good as advertised and represents excellent value for money. Unfortunately, my first case arrived damaged in transit — disappointing, but what followed more than made up for it. The customer service team responded quickly and efficiently, with Jonny in particular deserving a special mention for his help. A replacement case was dispatched and received promptly, with minimal fuss. It’s reassuring to know that when something does go wrong, there’s a team ready to put things right. I’d have no hesitation ordering again.

This rosé won’t be making it onto my personal favourites list, but I’d be doing it a disservice to dismiss it entirely. It’s a little on the bland side — nothing particularly exciting jumps out in terms of aroma or flavour — yet there’s something quietly easy about it. It’s perfectly drinkable, the kind of bottle you reach for without much thought on a warm afternoon. If you’re after complexity and character, you might find yourself wanting more. But if you simply want something unchallenging and pleasant to sip, it delivers on that front without any fuss. Solid, if unspectacular.

Really good offers — particularly impressive ones at that. I didn’t initially appreciate that those brilliant prices are available purely because of the fee-based membership model, but after a moment’s reflection it all made sense. The model works even better the more wine you buy, and with offers this good, buying more is no hardship at all. Apparently the membership fee pays for itself if you spend more than £25 a month, which is a very clear green light. The packaging is also excellent — something I’ve genuinely struggled with from other wine suppliers in the past. All in all, a very positive experience.

Mr Rennie Evans

I’ll admit I approached this one with a degree of caution. A few of the reviews I’d read had given me pause, but a 95-point score from Decanter was enough to tip the balance and persuade me to give it a go. I’m glad I did. Far from disappointing, it delivered in a way that justified the optimism — and at this price point, the value is genuinely hard to argue with. Sometimes it pays to trust your instincts and take the plunge.

Laura Bland

I’d actually tried this once before, admittedly after a glass or two already, and it impressed me far more than I’d anticipated. The depth of colour had made me brace for something heavy, but the flavour was surprisingly fresh and lively. A pleasant contrast that caught me off guard in the best possible way. I’d happily pour it again — this time with a clearer head to give it the attention it deserves.

Sal Khan

Sal Khan found this to be a very nice, classy Crémant — and honestly, that says quite a lot in a few words. There’s something to be said for a sparkling wine that simply feels refined without demanding your attention. While the tasting note is brief, the sentiment is clear: this is a bottle that delivered, earning a confident four out of five stars. If you’re looking for an elegant, unpretentious fizz that hits the mark, this one seems well worth considering.

Winedrops offers a genuinely excellent opportunity to access quality wines at more attractive prices than you’d typically find on the high street. The selection feels thoughtfully curated, making it easy to discover bottles that feel like real value for money. Whether you’re a seasoned wine lover or simply looking to explore something new without breaking the bank, the experience delivers on its promise. A solid four stars — well worth checking out if you’re looking to enjoy good wine without the usual premium price tag.

Winedrops offers genuinely good value, but it’s worth going in with a clear understanding of how the service works. If you’re a regular wine drinker who plans to order frequently, the membership makes a lot of sense and the savings add up nicely. It’s the kind of service that rewards committed wine lovers rather than occasional buyers. Once I got to grips with how it all worked, I found it to be a worthwhile investment. Four stars — solid overall, with the caveat that it suits those who are ready to make the most of it.

Garry Foster

I’ll admit I had my reservations initially, but so far every bottle we’ve purchased has been a pleasant surprise. None of the wines have disappointed, and we’ve genuinely enjoyed discovering varieties and labels we would never have thought to try on our own. It’s opened up a whole new world of wine for us, and we’re very much looking forward to exploring more of what’s on offer. A great way to broaden your horizons.

Michael Hoath

Michael kept it simple, and honestly, sometimes that says it all. This is a wine he found very nice and very drinkable — and there’s real merit in that kind of easy, unpretentious enjoyment. Not every bottle needs to be wrestled with or analysed at length. Some wines just work, and this appears to be one of them. A solid four stars, and the kind of recommendation that speaks to everyday pleasure rather than occasion-driven drinking. If you’re looking for something reliably enjoyable to open on a weeknight, Michael’s brief but enthusiastic verdict might be all the nudge you need.

Berta Bueno

Sometimes a wine just quietly delivers, and that’s exactly what this one does. Berta found it to be great value for money, and that kind of straightforward satisfaction is worth celebrating. Not every bottle needs to dazzle with complexity — sometimes the best thing a wine can do is taste better than its price tag suggests. This seems to be one of those reliably pleasing finds that earns a place in your regular rotation without asking too much of your wallet. A solid four stars, and a recommendation worth passing on.

Peter Turner

Peter found this wine to be really quite lovely — and honestly, it’s hard to argue with that. Sometimes a wine doesn’t need a lengthy explanation; it simply does what a good wine should do, and this one delivers. While Peter kept his thoughts brief, the four-star rating speaks clearly enough: this is a bottle that left a positive impression and would likely be worth returning to. A solid, enjoyable choice.

Peter Turner

Sometimes a wine doesn’t need a lengthy introduction — it simply delivers. Peter found this to be exactly that kind of bottle: an enjoyable, uncomplicated drink that feels well worth its price. There’s something quietly satisfying about a wine that meets expectations without fuss, and at this price point, that’s no small thing. A solid, honest choice that does what it promises.

Andrew McLellan

Andrew left us just a single letter to work with, so we’re reading between the lines here — but a four-star rating speaks clearly enough. Whatever was in the glass, it seems to have made a solid impression. We’d love to hear more next time, Andrew — the full story behind those four stars sounds like it’s worth telling.

Paul Beard

Sometimes a wine doesn’t need to do anything flashy — it just needs to be good to drink, and this one delivers exactly that. Paul found it very drinkable, which is perhaps the most honest compliment you can pay a bottle. It’s the kind of wine that doesn’t demand your attention or ask you to take notes; it simply sits well in the glass and goes down easily. A solid four out of five, and a dependable choice if you’re after something uncomplicated and enjoyable.

Stuart Munns

Stuart clearly found exactly what he was looking for here. This is the kind of wine that doesn’t demand your full attention — it simply sits comfortably in your glass and makes a warm afternoon feel a little more relaxed. Easy-drinking in the best sense of the phrase, it delivers uncomplicated pleasure without any fuss. Enjoyable enough that Stuart plans to come back for more, which says quite a lot on its own. A solid, reliable choice for casual outdoor drinking.

Hugh Meechan

Short and sweet, Hugh’s verdict says it all — this is a genuinely nice wine. The Chenin Blanc grape can be tricky to get right, pulling in all directions between crisp acidity, honeyed richness, and sometimes an almost waxy depth. Whatever direction this one has taken, it’s clearly landed well. A four-star rating from a customer who keeps things concise speaks volumes. If you’re looking for a reliable, enjoyable bottle that doesn’t demand overthinking, this seems like a solid place to start.

Tim

This is a lovely wine that manages to stand out from the crowd of New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs, and that’s no small feat. The freshness is immediate and striking, with a powerful lemongrass character that feels both vivid and genuine. What really won me over, though, was the sense that this wine is doing something a little different — there’s a personality here that sets it apart from the more predictable expressions of the variety. The finish lingers pleasantly, rounding off what is a very enjoyable and distinctive bottle. Four stars, and well deserved.

Paul Beard

Sometimes a single word says it all. Paul found this wine simply great — and there’s an honesty to that kind of unadorned enthusiasm. Not every bottle needs a long explanation; some just deliver exactly what you’re hoping for and leave you feeling satisfied. A four-star rating backs up the sentiment: this is a wine that clearly hit the mark, even if Paul wasn’t moved to reach for his notebook. Worth trying if you’re looking for something reliably enjoyable.

Giovanni Ponticelli

I’ll admit that at first I was worried something had gone wrong with my order — it briefly felt like I’d been scammed. However, my concerns were quickly put to rest by the speed and efficiency of the service. The wine arrived safely and turned out to be very good. One thing worth bearing in mind for new customers: purchases are processed instantly, so there is little opportunity for refunds if you change your mind. Make sure you’re certain before you tap to buy. Overall, a positive experience once everything came together.

Paul Beard

Paul doesn’t overcomplicate things, and neither does this wine. His verdict — ‘very drinkable’ — is straightforward praise that shouldn’t be underestimated. There are bottles you admire and bottles you actually reach for, and this one clearly falls into the second camp. It’s the kind of wine that does its job without fuss, earning a solid four stars in the process. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

Chrissie Wightman

Short and sweet, Chrissie’s verdict says it all — this was a genuinely good bottle that left her wanting more. Sometimes the highest compliment a wine can receive isn’t a lengthy breakdown of tannins and terroir, but simply that quiet urge to reach for another glass. That’s exactly the feeling this one delivered. A confident four stars, and a very easy recommendation to anyone considering it.
