I signed up for the Winedrops Premium subscription after a great trial and on the strength of recommendations from friends. The wines themselves are genuinely excellent — that part has never been in doubt. Sadly, almost everything else has gone wrong.

Payment issues dogged my subscription from the start, requiring unnecessary back and forth to resolve. My first delivery arrived fine, but the second never appeared — DHL falsely logged it as refused, and it later turned out the parcel had been damaged in transit. What frustrated me most was that I ended up proposing the solution myself, something Winedrops even called “a sensible approach.” Customers shouldn’t have to do that.

For my birthday I ordered 48 bottles well in advance, precisely because of my earlier experience. Of four parcels, only fragments have arrived — 34 bottles so far, one parcel entirely missing. I was then asked to compile a written inventory so Winedrops could determine what was outstanding. That felt completely unreasonable given the circumstances.

I don’t want a refund; I simply want the bottles I ordered. The wines are wonderful, but great wine alone cannot compensate for consistently poor fulfilment and a customer experience that leaves you solving problems yourself.

I was not aware that a subscription was required when I signed up, and unfortunately this was not made sufficiently clear to me at the time. When I realised and contacted Winedrops to request a cancellation and refund, they refused on both counts. I found this deeply disappointing and felt that the subscription terms were not communicated transparently upfront. My strong advice to anyone considering signing up would be to read all the terms and conditions carefully before committing, as the subscription requirement may not be immediately obvious. The lack of flexibility or goodwill shown by customer service left me feeling frustrated and let down.

Like many other customers, my card was debited with the £119 membership fee despite having cancelled my membership well within the permitted cancellation period. It was a frustrating experience, and I was only fortunate that my card issuer had declined the transaction. I would urge Winedrops to review their cancellation processes to ensure that customers who cancel in good time are not incorrectly charged. This kind of issue erodes trust and creates unnecessary stress for customers who have followed the correct procedure.

Bit disappointing this one tbh. No wines in the box with damaged or spoiled label just a cheap supermarket staple rose that I would very surprised it Winedrops actually sell. Worst ever purchase from an otherwise very good company

I purchased a case of wine, and at no point during checkout was it made clear that I was signing up to a very expensive subscription service. Only after payment was taken was I informed that my order wouldn’t be shipped until I provided proof of age — which required creating an account I never wanted and submitting a significant amount of personal information.

Reading other reviews, it seems I’m not alone in noticing the dark patterns used throughout the Winedrops app, including charges being applied immediately when items are added to your basket, requiring you to then request a refund if you change your mind. By that point I was so frustrated that I hadn’t added anything to my basket — otherwise I’d have been disputing the charge with my bank.

I later received a phone call from Winedrops regarding my cancelled subscription. When I explained that I had never knowingly signed up for one, I was told I was mistaken and that nothing improper had occurred. The entire experience felt deeply deceptive. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

I ordered a case of six rosé bottles after my local supermarket had sold out. The price was comparable, so I went ahead — but I had no idea I was signing up for a £119 annual subscription. If there was a notification, it was extremely well hidden. I always check for recurring charges on Facebook-promoted offers, yet I still missed it.

Winedrops took £119 just days after my initial order without notifying me of any 48-hour cancellation window. I only discovered the charge when they later emailed to say I’d be billed again the following year. I managed to stop the recurring charge through their website, but they refused to refund the annual membership I had unknowingly signed up for.

They don’t respond meaningfully to emails beyond pointing to their terms and conditions. Despite repeated requests to stop marketing emails, they continue to send them — a potential GDPR breach. I’m raising this with my bank and the relevant data protection authorities. This feels like very sharp practice, and I’d urge others to scrutinise any offer from Winedrops carefully before purchasing.

Very very very sweet. It’s basically a dessert wine.

Maybe I had a dodgy bottle but this is very poor, almost undrinkable..if I’d’ve paid €2 in a French supermarket I’d be disappointed.

£39 not bad purchase but when you realise that £119 Has been taken out from your bank account on the top of the £39 that’s not a joke

Disappointed that £119.00 has been taken out of my account without notification. I expect it’s all in the small print hidden somewhere. Nothing mentioned when ordering your wine and l certainly will not be reordering as l consider it to be sharp practice and unprofessional.

I placed an order in January and it still hasn’t arrived. I’ve reached out to customer services twice without receiving any response whatsoever, which is deeply frustrating. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time I’ve experienced this kind of issue with Winedrops — my very first order last year also required me to chase repeatedly before it was eventually fulfilled. A pattern like this is simply not acceptable, and I’d strongly urge Winedrops to take a serious look at both their order fulfilment process and their customer service responsiveness. At this point, I have no confidence that my issue will be resolved without significant further effort on my part.

I was misled into paying an unexpected £119 charge when ordering wine. At no point during the process was this cost made clearly apparent to me, and when I raised the issue, Winedrops refused to issue a refund. I found this practice to be deceptive and wholly unacceptable. I would strongly caution anyone considering using Winedrops to read carefully before committing to any purchase, and to be fully aware of all potential charges upfront. In my view, this kind of opaque billing should not be permitted, and the lack of willingness to resolve the matter in good faith left me deeply dissatisfied.

Not worth the purchase. Got two of the same bottles. Both worth £10.99. When buying two of them, I expected two different bottles.

I found the Winedrops app genuinely confusing to navigate. It was not at all clear that pressing the spin button would result in an immediate £15 charge — there was no obvious warning or confirmation step before the payment was taken. To make matters worse, the offer I was unexpectedly charged for turned out to be the same one I had just purchased. I’ll wait for my order to arrive, but after this experience I won’t be using Winedrops again. Greater transparency around how the spin feature works and what it costs would go a long way toward building customer trust.

I thought I had purchased wine at a reasonable price, only to discover afterwards that Winedrops had charged an additional £119 to my credit card. There was no prior indication whatsoever that this charge would be applied, which I find completely unacceptable. Being misled into handing over money without clear, upfront communication is something no customer should have to experience. I have since reached out to Winedrops to seek an explanation, but have received no reply. I am deeply disappointed and frustrated by this experience, and I would urge others to carefully review all charges before completing any purchase.

I ordered this because it was touted as the higher alcohol content version. There is I difference in taste. Bottles arrived and they were 12.5%. Will not order again

Signing up via a QR code on my phone somehow landed me with a subscription to something called Juice Tech — I have no idea what this is, but it operates in exactly the same way as Winedrops: you’re asked for payment details before you’ve barely started. I’m now attempting to cancel both my Juice Tech subscription and my Winedrops membership simultaneously.

On the main page, the headline figure is £9.92 per month with a three-day free trial. Buried in the small print, however, is the fact that £119 is due upfront and in full — meaning you’d need to purchase a significant amount of wine just to justify that initial cost.

As soon as I realised this, I cancelled within the three-day trial period — but I’m still unsure whether I’ll be charged the £119. If that’s the risk, what exactly does ‘free trial’ mean?

I’d genuinely rather pay full price for the wines I want than feel manipulated into a membership I didn’t fully understand signing up for.
