Please be very cautious before ordering from Winedrops. I purchased six bottles of wine at £14 each, only to discover the same wine available at Tesco on offer for £17 — so not quite the deal it appeared to be. Then, four days after paying £79 for my order, Winedrops took a further £119 from my account without any prior notice or additional invoice. When I realised what had happened and tried to contact them, I was told there is only a 48-hour window to appeal such charges — which I find completely unacceptable. As two vulnerable pensioners on a fixed income during this ongoing financial crisis, this has caused us real distress. I intend to pursue this matter further and urge others to read all the terms very carefully before placing an order.

I came across Winedrops via Instagram and assumed I was taking advantage of a one-off special offer — it wasn’t immediately clear that I was signing up to a recurring membership scheme. The membership details were mentioned in the third confirmation email, but in the rush of the day I overlooked it. It’s disappointing that the marketing felt so unclear, if not deliberately misleading. I’ve since cancelled, but not before being charged for something I never intended to purchase. As for the wine itself — a bottle marketed as worth £30 but reduced to £10 — it was perfectly drinkable, though honestly no better than a £7 bottle from a decent supermarket. Overall, a frustrating experience that left me feeling let down.

I attempted to purchase wine at what seemed like a bargain price, only to be asked to download an app to verify my age. Once I’d done that, I was informed that a £119 membership fee would be charged within a week. There was absolutely no clear mention of this upfront, and I found the whole process deeply misleading. Presenting an attractive wine price without transparently disclosing a significant recurring membership fee from the outset is, in my view, unacceptable. I cancelled immediately and would strongly advise others to read the small print very carefully before proceeding with Winedrops. What appears to be a great deal may come with unexpected costs attached.

I was charged far too quickly — before I’d had a reasonable chance to review the contents of my basket. This was frustrating, as I felt rushed through the checkout process without adequate time to check my order. I would have appreciated a clearer opportunity to confirm everything before payment was taken. I hope Winedrops looks into improving this part of the checkout experience, as it left me feeling that the process was not as customer-friendly as it could be.

I attempted to purchase wine through Winedrops, but was required to download the app simply to verify my age. Once I’d done that, the app repeatedly prompted me to share my opinions before I could do anything meaningful — and, bizarrely, it still hasn’t actually asked me to verify my age. The whole experience felt unnecessarily convoluted and prevented me from completing a straightforward purchase. Hopefully Winedrops can streamline this process, as the constant feedback requests before basic functionality is available make for a very frustrating user journey.

I purchased some wine with no mention whatsoever of any membership scheme. Having used wine clubs before, I know how they typically operate — and there was nothing to indicate I was signing up for anything beyond my initial order. Without any notification, £119 was charged to my card for some kind of membership club. The only recourse offered was cancellation within 48 hours, but if you miss that narrow window, good luck getting a response. In my view, this is deliberately deceptive and borders on fraudulent. I would urge anyone considering buying from Winedrops to proceed with extreme caution and carefully scrutinise the small print before entering any payment details.

A really frustrating experience from start to finish. Ordering the wine itself was straightforward enough, but things quickly became unclear after that. It turned out that Winedrops were simply “holding” the order rather than fulfilling it — while still charging me. The wine is apparently not released until you have paid a separate membership fee, which was not made clear upfront. This kind of hidden requirement is not at all impressive and left me feeling misled. Far more transparency is needed about how the process actually works before customers part with their money.

I ordered six bottles of Whispering Angel and received an order confirmation showing £79.98. However, I was also charged an additional £119.00, which was never made clear at the point of purchase. Whether this is some kind of membership fee or an extortionate delivery charge, it is simply not explained or specified anywhere. Combined, that works out at around £33.16 per bottle — when the same wine is readily available elsewhere for approximately £20 per bottle. That is a significant markup, and the complete lack of transparency around the additional charge makes this feel like a rip-off. I would urge Winedrops to be far clearer about any extra costs before customers complete their orders.

I never actually purchased any wine. I was simply browsing the app and entered my card details in order to view the wines available. At no point did I knowingly sign up to a paid membership.

To my complete surprise, a £119 charge appeared on my card. There was no clear notification that I was joining a membership or that this payment would be taken. I later found out that there is a 48-hour cancellation window — but only if you happen to notice the charge in time. If you miss it, you are billed regardless.

The entire sign-up process felt confusing and deeply misleading. I would urge anyone browsing Winedrops to be extremely cautious before entering their payment details.

I found my experience with Winedrops to be deeply disappointing. The service felt very misleading, and unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations at all. I won’t be returning or recommending it to others. I had hoped for something much better, but sadly that was not the case.

The wines offered by Winedrops look excellent — I have no doubt they are. Unfortunately, my experience has been let down by a failure to deliver what I paid for. When I contacted Customer Service, I was told they only communicate by email, though the founder appeared to suggest otherwise. There seems to be some internal confusion that needs addressing. Winedrops has all the hallmarks of a brilliant business, and it would be a shame to see that potential undermined by fulfilment and communication issues. As the saying goes, a satisfied customer tells ten people, but a dissatisfied one tells many more. I hope they get things sorted — when they do, I would genuinely consider giving them another try.

On the surface, Winedrops looks like any other online wine retailer. You browse, buy a case of wine, tick the usual boxes at checkout, and expect a straightforward transaction. What I didn’t realise was that my purchase also enrolled me in a membership scheme carrying a £119 annual fee. It felt like a standard checkout process, not an agreement to join a subscription club. Like most people, I accepted the terms and conditions without anticipating that a single purchase would authorise an additional charge of that size. By the time I noticed the money had left my account, the cooling-off period had already passed. If a significant membership fee is attached to a purchase, it should be made unmistakably clear — not something customers only discover after checking their bank statement. The wine itself was a further disappointment; factoring in the unexpected fee, the bottles worked out at around £35 each and simply weren’t worth it. I’ve had far better wines from supermarkets and independent merchants for considerably less. I’m clearly not alone — many other reviewers describe the same experience. Winedrops falls well short on transparency, and I won’t be returning. I’d strongly encourage anyone considering an order to read every step of the checkout process very carefully.

I’ve reached my limit with Winedrops. The last two deliveries have each been short by a full case, and getting any response required persistent chasing. Customer service feels outsourced and slow, relying on scripted replies rather than genuine engagement. When I was told my order would be re-dispatched, it still hadn’t left two days later — requiring yet more follow-up from my side.

There’s also a clear imbalance in how customers are treated. Attractive introductory offers are made to prospective new clients, while loyal customers who have spent many thousands receive nothing comparable and seemingly no recognition at all.

Despite significant spend over time, there has been no meaningful client engagement whatsoever. It’s frustrating to see polished marketing content being produced while operational problems and customer concerns go unaddressed at ownership level. Competitors who get the basics right — delivering complete orders and valuing existing customers — will inevitably win this business.

My delivery was held up with no explanation whatsoever, and when I reached out to find out why, my request was completely ignored — even beyond the 24-hour response window Winedrops themselves had indicated. To make matters worse, there appears to be no way to contact them by phone; everything is handled online, which makes it incredibly frustrating when you’re trying to resolve an issue urgently. For a company handling time-sensitive deliveries, the lack of transparency and accessible customer support is a serious problem. I hope Winedrops addresses these communication issues, as it significantly undermines trust in their service.

I placed an order with Winedrops that was confirmed at £79.98, yet my credit card was subsequently charged £119 — a significant discrepancy that I cannot account for. No explanation was provided for the difference, and this kind of billing error is completely unacceptable. I would strongly urge Winedrops to investigate and resolve this immediately, as being charged nearly £40 more than the agreed order total is a serious issue that undermines trust in the service entirely.

I was charged £119 for a membership I never consented to, with only a 48-hour cooling-off period applied. When I asked Winedrops to show me where I had signed up and to provide a confirmation email, they were unable to produce any evidence. Since raising the issue, I have been completely ignored, despite giving them a clear opportunity to issue a refund. I paid by credit card and have since reported the matter to my card provider, who has raised a chargeback on my behalf. I would strongly urge anyone considering a purchase to proceed with caution and ensure you fully understand what you are signing up for before parting with any money.
