Unless you read the small print very carefully, you may find yourself locked into a yearly commitment — something Winedrops could be far more upfront about. My first order arrived without issue, but my second is now nearly a month overdue. Despite sending three separate emails, I have received no response whatsoever. The customer service is, frankly, non-existent. It feels as though the expectation is that customers will simply accept the situation and move on quietly. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere before signing up.

Winedrops has been, without doubt, the worst company I have ever dealt with. The terms and conditions are confusing and riddled with hidden clauses that are nearly impossible to navigate. Once signed up, I was bombarded with texts and emails, and when I tried to obtain a refund, I found it virtually impossible to do so. To make matters worse, customer service was completely non-existent — there was simply no support available when I needed it most. I would strongly urge anyone considering a purchase to think very carefully before handing over their money. My experience was wholly negative, and I cannot recommend this company in any way.

I was very unhappy when my Mastercard statement arrived. The cancellation window for the £119 annual membership is extremely short — in my view, charging the full annual fee within just two days of receiving a wine order is sharp practice. I have since cancelled my membership and would not recommend Winedrops to others. To make matters worse, my son told me the exact same thing had happened to him; I only wish he had warned me beforehand. I also received an email from the Winedrops founder stating there were no hard feelings about my cancellation — a sentiment that felt rather hollow given the circumstances. Please be cautious and read the small print carefully before signing up.

I ordered two bottles of wine during a recent drop on 6th August, but unfortunately there was nothing else of interest to bring me up to the required six-bottle minimum. I decided to cancel my trial and requested a refund for the two bottles I had already been charged for. While the original order email does state that cancellation is possible, actually getting Winedrops to respond — let alone process a refund — has proven to be another matter entirely. My emails have been ignored, and I am still waiting to hear back. A real shame, as the premise is appealing, but the lack of customer support when things go wrong is a serious concern.

I spotted an offer on Instagram for some of my favourite wines, ordered six bottles, and downloaded the app. What I didn’t realise was that placing the order had apparently enrolled me in a three-day free trial — something I was never clearly informed about. It wasn’t until my Amex statement arrived that I discovered an additional £119 had been taken from my account on top of my original order, as a subscription charge I never knowingly agreed to. I find it completely unacceptable to charge customers without their explicit consent or clear communication upfront. Winedrops needs to be far more transparent about these terms before customers complete their purchase.

Just my Opinion

I ordered six bottles of wine and was pleased when they arrived — but my satisfaction quickly turned to frustration when I was subsequently charged an additional £119 as a membership fee. I never signed up for a membership. I simply bought wine. Winedrops needs to be transparent about any ongoing charges at the point of purchase, because discovering an unexpected fee after the fact feels deceptive and has completely eroded my trust in them as a company. I would urge anyone considering a purchase to read the small print very carefully before proceeding.

Not for me. Opens nicely, berry fruit, lots of depth but I find the finish has an earthy, chalky quality that I don’t like.

When the wine actually arrives, it is excellent — had my first order gone smoothly, this would have been a five-star review without hesitation. Unfortunately, my second order became a prolonged ordeal. After an initial email confirming delivery on 5th August, a further message on the 6th cited a delay with a promise of next-day delivery that never materialised. What followed was a lengthy chain of emails and broken assurances. By 12th August I was promised delivery on the 17th via InPost, only to discover that InPost didn’t even recognise the tracking ID provided. Lou at Winedrops has genuinely tried to help, but I keep being asked to wait another 24 hours for updates — and it now transpires the order wasn’t even dispatched until the weekend. The wine itself deserves five stars, but the courier choices and the sheer amount of time I’ve had to spend chasing a straightforward order have left me deeply frustrated. Sadly, I’m left with no choice but to award one star, and I’m not sure I’ll be ordering again.

I downloaded the app and, when prompted for payment details, chose to use Apple Pay instead of entering my bank information directly. I didn’t purchase anything, and I certainly never agreed to a subscription. The very next day, there were three attempts to take £119 from my account — none of which I had authorised. I was shocked and alarmed. This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable, and I would urge others to be extremely cautious. I expect a prompt and transparent explanation from Winedrops as to why these charges were attempted without my consent.

Winedrops is an absolute disgrace. They draw you into a subscription without clear consent, quietly taking money you never knowingly agreed to hand over. When you try to resolve the issue, you’re met with obstacle after obstacle — no proper accountability, no prompt refund, just silence. This is not how a legitimate business should operate. I’d strongly urge anyone considering signing up to think twice and be very cautious about sharing your card details with them.

Really disappointed and worried as we have another bottle –

Opened this today – decanted and left to rest for a few hours –

Very disappointed- brownish tinge and sour aftertaste- presuming it’s corked, but it’s not good and has gone down the sink- had been looking forward to enjoying it with dinner tonight

Says 14 vol but honestly I’ve had vin de table 12% with more structure and finish. If you like your wine thin and tasteless. Go ahead and buy!

The app experience left a lot to be desired. There is no option to empty the basket, and once a bottle is added, the order appears to be placed and payment taken — or at least held as pending — before you even reach checkout. The interface is clunky and far from user-friendly, with no clear indication of what you are purchasing or at what price. To make matters worse, the default quantity is automatically set to two bottles, which is easy to miss. Signing up is the only way to browse what is on offer, and since doing so I have been inundated with emails and text messages. I am now attempting to clear my basket and unsubscribe. Winedrops needs to make these processes far more transparent and straightforward if it wants to retain customers.

I raised a complaint with Winedrops and was deeply disappointed by their response. Rather than addressing the issue directly and offering a genuine resolution, they replied with a vague, meandering answer that completely failed to tackle the core problem. Despite my efforts to have the matter properly resolved, Winedrops has shown no willingness to engage meaningfully or take responsibility. It is frustrating to be met with hollow words when you simply want your concern acknowledged and dealt with. I would caution others to bear this in mind before purchasing.

I ordered wine and, to be fair, it arrived quickly — that part was fine. However, the very next day an additional £119 was taken from my account without my authorisation. I had not agreed to any further charges, and as far as I am concerned, taking money from someone’s account without their knowledge or consent is completely unacceptable. I would strongly caution anyone considering using Winedrops to check their bank statements carefully after placing an order. This kind of unexpected charge is deeply concerning and I hope Winedrops addresses this issue urgently.

AVOID. It’s so obviously a scam with underhand tactics. So many AI bots giving 5 stars. Look at the 1 star reviews and you have all you need to know.

Winedrops appears to have a habit of misleading new customers. Their Facebook advertising is heavy on enticing offers but far from transparent when it comes to the membership fee — something that should be stated clearly upfront, not buried in the small print.

Beyond the sign-up experience, my first order has already missed its promised delivery timeframe, which does little to inspire confidence. I’m writing this still waiting for the order to arrive — and genuinely hoping it does.

I spent over thirty years working as a sommelier, including many years at a two-Michelin-starred establishment. In that environment, treating customers with anything less than honesty and respect would have ended us within weeks. The standards Winedrops appear to be operating to would simply not have been acceptable.

My advice: drop the marketing hyperbole, be upfront about costs and timelines, and start treating customers with the respect they deserve. This review is a harsh one, but it reflects my experience accurately and honestly.
