The Winedrops app offers no way to cancel an item, even when it hasn’t yet been shipped. Instead, you’re forced to send an email to customer support and then simply hope that the cancellation is processed before the order goes out. This feels like a significant oversight — cancellation should be straightforward and immediate, especially when the item hasn’t left the warehouse. On top of that, some of the prices feel inflated compared to what you’d expect to pay elsewhere. There’s definitely room for improvement here, both in terms of the app’s functionality and overall value for money.

They are right, you do not pay the full price for wine, YOU PAY MORE.

If you do decide to order from them, MAKE SURE THAT YOU READ THE SMALL PRINT FIRST.

Then my advice would be NOT to order from them. I did and regret it!

Avoid Winedrops if you’re considering purchasing through a Facebook ad. There is no clear mention of any subscription fee during the buying process. After completing a purchase, you’re directed to download their app supposedly to verify your age — but this appears to be a disguised way of enrolling you in a free trial. I saw no mention of any trial when downloading the app, and a subscription payment was taken from my account just a few days later. This is a dishonest and deceptive retail practice, and I would strongly caution anyone against falling into the same trap.

I discovered a particular Italian wine advertised by Winedrops and was keen to try it, though the delivery ran two weeks late due to a change of courier. The wine itself was excellent when it finally arrived, so I was optimistic. However, my experience quickly soured when I explored the app and accidentally triggered the “Spin the Wheel” feature twice without fully understanding how it worked. I suddenly received an email informing me I had committed to purchasing two random bottles at £15 each. I contacted customer service within ten minutes to explain the situation, but they refused to make any exception, insisting I was bound by the purchase. For a company that depends heavily on word of mouth, this felt like a significant misstep. The absence of phone support made resolving the issue even more frustrating. Wine buying should be an enjoyable experience, and sadly this interaction left a very bitter taste.

Very poor customer service. First of all, there is no Phone number to call if you have a problem. The App is not good enough, so if you have a problem the only way is to email the Customer Services, who then decide when they respond. Very clunky in this day and age. Also, they have an option of “Spin the Wheel”, which I complained about but they ignored me. Very poor service

I was drawn in by what looked like an attractive six-bottle deal advertised on social media, only to find a £119 subscription fee taken from my account two days later. This charge was not clearly communicated at checkout, which I find unacceptable.

Matters were made worse by the app’s spin-the-wheel feature, which displays ‘Spin for £15’ — strongly implying a £15 prize. When I spun, I was immediately charged £15 to my credit card with no prior warning that this was a payment rather than a reward. That is genuinely misleading.

I’ve had to raise a dispute with my credit card provider and have removed my card details, as I no longer feel comfortable with Winedrops holding them. Having worked in marketing and marketing technology, I recognise these as practices that fall well below acceptable standards and, in my view, warrant attention from trading standards authorities. Very disappointing indeed.

I would give zero stars if I could. I was hit with an unauthorised subscription charge of £119 that I had no knowledge of or agreement to. When I contacted Winedrops to request a refund, I was flatly refused on the grounds that I had not raised the issue within 48 hours. This policy feels deeply unfair and the lack of willingness to resolve the matter left me feeling completely taken advantage of. I would strongly urge anyone considering ordering to read the terms extremely carefully before proceeding, as unexpected charges may follow.

I was caught off guard by what turned out to be a hidden subscription model. After a 48-hour free trial, I was charged £120 for a membership before my first order had even been delivered. This kind of practice is deeply frustrating and, in my view, misleading. I had no clear expectation that a paid membership would kick in so quickly, and the timing made it feel particularly unfair. Winedrops needs to be far more transparent about these charges upfront so that customers can make genuinely informed decisions before committing to anything. A poor first impression that I won’t forget easily.

Ordered wine linked to offer – the charged membership fee without authority – whilst refund promised this has taken an age and still not received – feels like a scam to earn interest on my cash!!!!

Will Reid

Be warned: Winedrops charges membership fees of over £10 that are far from clearly advertised. The app itself feels geared more towards extracting money than providing genuine value to customers. Whatever savings you might make on wine seem to be clawed back through various other charges and schemes built into the platform. Overall, a frustrating and disappointing experience — I would advise others to read the small print very carefully before signing up, or to look elsewhere altogether.

On two separate occasions I received wines that were different from what I had ordered. Both times I sent photos clearly showing the incorrect bottles had been delivered, yet Winedrops simply denied any wrongdoing and refused to acknowledge the mistake. It is incredibly frustrating to have photographic evidence dismissed without explanation or resolution. I feel completely powerless as a customer, with no apparent route to a fair outcome. I genuinely do not know what else I can do to get this sorted. I would caution others to be vigilant when their orders arrive and to check carefully that what they receive matches what they paid for.

Be careful before adding anything to your basket on Winedrops. I selected five bottles expecting to be able to review my order before committing, but I was charged immediately with no opportunity to cancel or undo the purchase. There was no confirmation step — the transaction went through instantly, leaving me with no recourse. It felt like a deceptive checkout process, and I would urge anyone browsing the site to be extremely cautious before clicking anything. What appeared to be a simple browsing action turned into an irreversible purchase. Very disappointing experience.

My experience with Winedrops has been disappointing, largely due to a lack of transparency around the annual membership fee. On the surface, the wine appears well-priced, but once you factor in that fee, the cost per bottle becomes quite high — particularly if you only drink occasionally and were simply looking to purchase a case of six bottles. What made things worse was discovering there is no option to switch to a monthly subscription. I feel this lack of flexibility is unreasonable, and combined with the poor communication from the customer service team, the whole experience left me feeling misled. Greater transparency upfront and more adaptable subscription options would go a long way toward making this feel like a fair deal rather than a frustrating one.

I placed an order through an Instagram ad for £64.99, but a few days later an additional £119 was taken from my bank account without my authorisation or any corresponding purchase. I did not agree to this charge, and no explanation was provided. This kind of unauthorised transaction is completely unacceptable, and I would strongly caution anyone considering ordering from Winedrops to monitor their bank account carefully. I expect a full refund of the unauthorised amount and a clear explanation of how this occurred.

My experience with Winedrops has been deeply frustrating. After ordering a case of wine, my account showed that I had also paid for two additional bottles — purchases I never made. To make matters worse, there is no way to cancel an order once it has been placed, and I was completely unable to reach any customer service support to resolve the issue. For a service handling payments and deliveries, this level of unreliability is simply not acceptable. I will not be returning as a customer.

This wine is very sweet on the palette and while it does have oak and tannins to balance for me it’s just too sweet.

The Facebook advertising for Winedrops makes it far from clear that this is a subscription service, which I found deeply frustrating. After placing an order for the initial offer, I was then required to download a phone app — apparently for age verification purposes — something that was equally unclear upfront. I have since requested a cancellation and a refund, and I am still waiting for a response. Greater transparency in their advertising and a more straightforward sign-up process would go a long way toward building customer trust. Hopefully my refund request will be resolved promptly.

I recently purchased the £10 Bordeaux from Winedrops and found it to be a real letdown. Having read the enthusiastic descriptions, my expectations were high, but unfortunately the wine fell well short of the hype. For the price point, I had hoped for something far more satisfying, but the overall experience was disappointing. I wouldn’t rush to buy it again.

I feel completely misled by my experience with Winedrops. When making a purchase, I was automatically enrolled in a membership costing £119, which I did not knowingly sign up for. When I tried to cancel and request a refund, I was told this wasn’t possible because I had already used the exclusive offer tied to the membership — a condition that felt impossible to avoid simply by completing the purchase. To make matters worse, Winedrops does offer refunds on orders that haven’t been dispatched yet, but in my case the order was marked as dispatched almost immediately after payment, leaving no window to cancel. The whole process felt deliberately structured to prevent customers from getting their money back. I would strongly caution anyone considering a purchase here to read every term carefully before proceeding, particularly around automatic membership enrolment and the conditions attached to it.

If you’re considering joining Winedrops, you might want a large glass of wine to hand first. I signed up after seeing an offer of six bottles of Whispering Angel for £80 — a genuinely compelling deal. What I hadn’t appreciated was that this was purely an introductory price; the following six bottles jumped to around £145, so the bargain evaporated quickly.

The annual membership fee of around £119 wasn’t made nearly as clear as it should have been, and once paid, don’t expect a refund under any circumstances. The ordering process also caught me off guard: you must order six bottles before dispatch, but if you don’t, your account gets charged anyway.

I later found that many other customers share similar frustrations, particularly around whether the advertised savings genuinely hold up once membership and delivery costs are factored in. There have also been questions raised about how discounts were promoted, which reinforced my sense that the marketing is designed to hook you first and reveal the small print later.

The real irony is that I never actually received a single bottle of wine. If straightforward pricing matters to you, I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

I joined Winedrops specifically to purchase wine for a party. However, I was disappointed to discover that the annual membership fee of £119 was not made clear during the sign-up process. I feel that Winedrops does not present this cost transparently to new customers, and had I been properly informed upfront, I would have made a more considered decision before proceeding. Greater clarity around membership costs at the point of registration would make for a much fairer and more straightforward customer experience.

I came across a Winedrops ad promoting a discounted case of wine, but when I logged into my account I discovered I had already been enrolled in a £119 annual membership — without my knowledge. I cancelled immediately, only to be told my membership wouldn’t end for another two days despite the payment being cancelled. I decided to make the most of the remaining time and added a bottle of supposedly discounted wine to my basket, at which point I was redirected to a review page with no way to proceed or exit. It’s deeply frustrating to be asked to review a product before it has even arrived — let alone been tasted. The whole experience felt pushy and poorly designed, with little transparency around how the membership sign-up worked. I’ll update my thoughts if the wine actually arrives and turns out to be worth it, but based on the process alone, I can’t say I’m impressed.

I bought a few bottles of wine and was then charged £119 a few days later without any clear warning. I had no intention of signing up to a subscription — this was meant to be a straightforward, one-time purchase. Finding an unexpected charge like this on my account felt dishonest and deeply frustrating. If Winedrops operates a subscription model, it needs to be made far more transparent at the point of purchase. Customers should never be left feeling blindsided by charges they didn’t knowingly agree to. I would not recommend purchasing unless you are fully aware of and comfortable with the potential for ongoing fees.

I’ve been completely unable to get through the age verification process on Winedrops. No matter what I try, I simply cannot verify my age, which means I’m stuck and unable to place an order. It’s an incredibly frustrating experience, and I hope Winedrops looks into this issue and finds a solution as soon as possible. A smoother, more reliable verification process would make a real difference for customers trying to use the service.
