I decided to take up a Winedrops introductory offer but changed my mind a few days before the deadline and cancelled — which was acknowledged. Despite this, the annual membership fee was still charged to my account. I’m still awaiting a refund and have received no response to two separate communications, which is frustrating.

I also found the app’s cancellation process more complicated than it should be. The contrast between background and text was poor, and anyone with impaired eyesight could easily be misled. Additionally, I was surprised to find that wines added to my basket were charged immediately — that’s not how a basket typically works, and it felt misleading.

What makes this all the more disappointing is that the wine itself was excellent. The introductory selection genuinely impressed me, and under different circumstances I might well have continued as a member. I hope Winedrops addresses these issues — both my outstanding refund and the app experience — because the product clearly has real potential.

I was disappointed with my experience with Winedrops. Money was taken from my account without a satisfactory resolution, and there is no customer service phone number to contact when issues arise, which made getting help extremely frustrating. On top of that, the wines available are not as competitively priced as they might initially appear — most can be found elsewhere for similar prices, so the discounts aren’t as impressive as advertised. My advice would be to shop around before committing, as better deals and more reliable customer support can be found through other retailers.

A really frustrating experience. I was simply browsing and considering whether to buy, when Winedrops charged me without any clear confirmation step. That kind of underhand behaviour is completely unacceptable — there was no warning that I’d be charged just for looking. I’ve since deleted the app and will be taking my business elsewhere. I’d strongly caution others to be very careful when browsing the platform, as it seems a purchase can be triggered far too easily and without proper consent.

I was disgusted to find a debit to my acc of £119 when I did not authorise membership. Upon researching their claimed prices they were inflated

I would strongly caution anyone considering a purchase from Winedrops. When I bought wine through their site, an additional £119 was taken from my account for a subscription that was not clearly highlighted at the point of sale. What I expected to pay £79 for ended up costing me £199 in total — more than double the advertised price. This lack of transparency feels deeply misleading, and I left the experience feeling genuinely deceived. I suspect a standard apologetic response will follow, but the real issue is that customers are not being adequately informed about these extra charges before they commit to buying. Please read all the fine print very carefully before placing an order.

After seeing a social media ad for a case of wine, I made a purchase — only to discover afterwards that downloading an app was required for age verification. The post-purchase instructions didn’t match the app’s actual process, and the whole thing turned out to be little more than a prompt to sign up to a membership programme. I cancelled immediately, well within the three-day free trial window, and contacted Winedrops customer service to flag that none of this had been made clear before purchase, and to close my account. Despite unsubscribing from marketing, I received eight texts and over 20 emails within 48 hours. To make matters worse, I was then charged £119 for the annual membership fee four days later — despite having cancelled. The lack of transparency around fees and the volume of unsolicited communications made this an incredibly frustrating experience from start to finish.

Disappointed in this rose but at only £7.99 I guess it wasn’t a surprise. Wouldn’t order it again.

Dreadful experience so far, and it continues. Somehow managed to order 6 bottles of wine over 3 weeks ago but never actually confirmed the order and they still haven’t turned up. They then charged me for an annual subscription which I tried to cancel the following day, but am still waiting for any sort of response from them. They clearly state you can get a full refund up to 48 hours after being charged but are just ignoring every attempt at communication. Now having to go through my bank to get a charge back from them!! Terrible business, stay clear!

I ordered some wine through the Winedrops website, which seemed promising at first. I was directed to their app to complete age verification, but the process was confusing — I ended up on a screen showing a large bottle of wine and, while trying to navigate away to find the age verification step, I apparently triggered a spin-the-wheel game. Within moments, I was charged £15 for a bottle I never intentionally ordered. I contacted Winedrops almost immediately, but was told they do not issue refunds for these kinds of errors. What makes this even more frustrating is that they were able to process and charge for this accidental order without age verification, yet my original order still requires it. It’s genuinely disappointing, because the overall concept behind Winedrops is appealing. Unfortunately, an unclear app interface combined with a flat refusal to resolve an obvious mistake left me feeling badly let down as a customer.

I have been trying to cancel a subscription I never intentionally signed up for, only to be told I need to pay an additional £9 to do so — which I find completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, £119 was taken from my account within 48 hours, without what I felt was adequate notice or transparency. The whole experience has left me feeling taken advantage of. I would not recommend Winedrops based on this experience, and I sincerely hope they address these billing and cancellation practices as a matter of urgency.

I purchased six bottles of Whispering Angel and was happy with that part of the experience. However, three days later I noticed £119 had been taken from my account with no notification or explanation. After some digging, I discovered this was an annual membership fee. I am furious. I will be pursuing a chargeback and am prepared to return the wine if necessary to recover the £119. I suspect Winedrops will point to the terms and conditions as justification, but in my opinion, charging a significant fee with no clear upfront communication or prior warning is completely underhand. Deeply disappointing.

I signed up to Winedrops through a social media promotion, and at no point during the sign-up process was there any mention of a £119 fee. Two days later, Winedrops attempted to take £119 from my bank account without prior notice or clear disclosure. This felt completely underhand, and I would strongly caution others to read the small print carefully before signing up. What appeared to be a straightforward offer turned out to involve an unexpected charge that was never made clear upfront. Deeply disappointing and, in my view, unacceptable practice.

Cork snapped not sure if fully corked. Nice flavours but far too much tannins for me. Strong chalky aftertaste. If if was a cheaper bottle I probably would have just tipped it down the drain after the first glass.

After seeing a Winedrops offer advertised on social media, I followed the link and purchased a case of wine. Almost immediately, I was bombarded with emails — most of which ended up in my spam folder. One that did get through demanded I download an app to verify my age before dispatch. Having no interest in doing that, I ignored it and assumed the order would simply be cancelled. A couple of days later, however, I discovered I had been charged and received a shipping notification. Odd, but I let it go. Then, a few days after that, an unauthorised charge of £119 appeared on my card — apparently a membership fee. This was not mentioned anywhere in the social media adverts and, in my view, was far from clearly communicated. I am now pursuing a refund and remain concerned that this practice borders on being genuinely misleading. I will update once I know how Winedrops responds.

My case of wine was left unsigned-for, just by the gate, which meant my 15-year-old grandson and his friend were able to help themselves to a bottle. This is a serious concern — deliveries of alcohol should require a signature and should never be left unattended where minors can access them. To make matters worse, I was unable to get in touch with Winedrops to raise the issue. The emails they send come from no-reply addresses, including those from named staff members, and there is no telephone number listed anywhere on their website. The complete lack of accessible customer service is deeply frustrating and, frankly, unacceptable. It’s a shame, because the wine itself is good — but shocking customer service and irresponsible delivery practices completely undermine the experience.

I encountered a problem with Winedrops and was deeply disappointed by their response. Despite giving them every opportunity to address the issue, they showed little interest in resolving it. The lack of engagement left me feeling undervalued as a customer, and unfortunately it has made it impossible for me to trust them again. I genuinely wanted to give them the chance to make things right, but regrettably that never happened.

I was drawn in by what looked like a great six-bottle deal advertised on social media. What I didn’t realise — and what I don’t believe is made sufficiently clear at checkout — is that signing up also enrolls you in a subscription. Two days later, a £119 fee was taken from my account. That came as a real shock. To be fair, Winedrops does offer a refund window, but you need to act fast — once 48 hours have passed, that option is gone. My strong advice: read the small print very carefully before completing your purchase, and if you have any doubts, contact Winedrops immediately. The lack of clarity around the subscription terms at the point of sale is, in my view, the core issue here and something that really should be addressed.

I was charged £119 from my account 48 hours after purchasing wine through Winedrops, with no prior warning or clear communication that this additional charge would be applied. I feel this is completely unacceptable and would strongly advise other customers to be fully aware of any potential additional charges before placing an order. Transparency around billing is essential, and in my experience, this was severely lacking. I would not recommend using Winedrops until this issue is properly addressed and customers are given clear, upfront information about all costs involved.

I was simply browsing the Winedrops app out of curiosity and, without giving any authorisation or completing an intentional purchase, I was charged £119 two days later. I did not grant permission for this transaction and was given no prior warning that any payment would be taken. This has left me feeling misled and frustrated. I would strongly urge anyone using the app to be extremely cautious, as it appears that simply browsing may trigger unexpected charges. I hope Winedrops investigates this issue promptly and takes steps to ensure it does not happen to other customers.

I have been very disappointed with my experience at Winedrops. I contacted customer service on three separate occasions regarding an issue I had, but received only one response — and even that reply failed to address my actual problem. The lack of meaningful support has left me feeling ignored and frustrated. Based on my experience, I struggle to see what sets Winedrops apart from far more affordable alternatives available on the high street. I had hoped for better, but sadly I cannot recommend them based on the service I received.

Andrew Gallagher

The wine itself was decent enough, but the experience was completely overshadowed by a sneaky £119 membership charge I hadn’t anticipated. When you’re already paying £160 for six bottles of average wine, discovering an unexpected fee on top of that is genuinely frustrating. I’d encourage anyone considering Winedrops to read the small print very carefully before placing an order. Transparency around pricing should be a basic standard, and in this case it simply wasn’t there. I’m giving one star only because the option to give zero isn’t available — that’s how disappointed I am. I really struggle to understand how Winedrops maintains a high overall rating when experiences like this are happening to customers.

I ordered six bottles of wine and paid £76, but my order never arrived. To make matters worse, I have been completely unable to get in touch with anyone at Winedrops to find out what has happened or to resolve the issue. No response, no explanation, and no wine. For a purchase of this size, the lack of customer communication is deeply frustrating and simply not good enough. I would expect at the very minimum an acknowledgement of the problem and a clear path to a resolution. As it stands, I am left out of pocket with nothing to show for it.
