Winedrops is a very good scammer, I’ll give that to them. I wanted to try their services, so I signed up in the mobile app, not at any stages were it very clear or visible that there would be a timeframe of when you have to cancel a annual membership or that it just starts rolling and that you will be charged within X amount of days. I spoke to customer service and they did say it was 10 days, however this is not visible at all. Suddenly I was charged 90 pounds for a annual membership that I didn’t want. Also, how they set up the flow of how you order the product is critiziable and unethical to the designers and owners of this company. When you order two bottles first you get charged right away, then I realized it’s not dispatched before you order 6(!) bottles… I had a good laugh afterwards because I felt stupid how I fell for this. The slap on the wrist occurred five times; (1) when I realized that I had to order 6 bottles to get it dispatched, (2) when I was charged 90 pounds for an annual membership that I didn’t really understood that I would have to cancel within 10 days (3) when they charged almost 10 pounds for delivery (this wasn’t really well communicated though this process), (4) when I contacted customer service with my complaint and they only offer to reactivate the membership, (5) reading the reviews online where people report the same as me and they feel scammed. Maybe even (6), shame on me for not reading the reviews first hand, I could have avoided this business scam.. lesson learned.

Absolute con, tells you you can cancel before being charged but it’s actually impossible. Avoid, now starting legal proceedings.

Sadly this website/App is misleading. The savings are almost nonexistent, most wines that are stocked by local supermarket are cheaper in the local supermarket. Their practices of attempting to create urgency in you purchasing are illegal and improper. Indeed, should you request to cancel the £90 per year membership fee that they charge you to buy the wines that are in the main more expensive than the local supermarket, they will ignore you, charge you anyway and then insist that they don’t refund membership fees even if you requested to cancel and haven’t used the membership.

Do not use this unless you want a hefty £90 membership bill.

I tried to cancel before they charged the £90 membership fee. They offered me 3 months grace to reconsider which I accepted, a week later they have taken £90 from my account and despite me getting in touch within the hour they are refusing to refund me .

These guys are dishonest and misleading. Now I am £90 down.
They totally misled me by saying I had another 3 months to decide and are now refusing to return my money. No wonder they dont provide a telephone number, there see to be a lot of people they have taken “Membership fees” from.

I tried to cancel before they took the money within the grace period and this is the response I got from the app.

I will be taking this further.

Steer well clear of these crooks!

**AVOID AT ALL COSTS**This company and website are fraudsters. They do not allow you to look at the website to see their rubbish wine deals, until you have provided them with bank details. They offered me an introduction offer of a £45 malbec for £7.50. This was put into my basket but charged for immediately. A quick Google search thereafter revealed this wine to be available at French wine supermarkets for as little as 4 euros. I went to cancel my 10 trial and they offered me 30 days free trial.
Looking at their overpriced wine on the app made me angry, so again I tried to cancel on the app. It stated that I could not cancel until 19 September,as I had taken this free trial. On 20/9, they removed the £90 subscription fee . I cancelled the app on this day and requested a refund. It’s against their T and C’s they replied.
After numerous emails to them, I have come to the conclusion that they have everyday wine at exorbitant prices. I am now pursuing this matter with my bank . Total con and I really can’t imagine this will be printed.

I have now read a number of reviews and mine is just another case of day light robbery.
Same as many other clients here, my intention was to browse the app to understand how it works, hooked by the adverts of good wines for a tenner.
The first thing I found odd was that I had been charged for selecting a wine and added it to the basket.
Now, which other online or bricks-and-mortar store in the world would charge you for putting something on the basket?
Then suddenly a couple weeks after I was charged £90 on my card, without my knowledge or consent.
I have emailed them several times asking for a refund but it was declined.
There’s nothing on the app as a prompt that this money will be taken, nor any email is sent to your inbox after they have taken the money, the operation is completely underhanded.
Stay away folks, the lack of transparency, poor commercial practices and the sheer lack of morals is not worth the hassle.
For those affected please let me know if you have managed in any way to get your money back.

I now add to a growing list of people saying they have lost £90 out of there bank account.I was also offered a red wine at a dropped rate offer and paid £7.50.I was on holiday when I received a fone call from someone within the
company i explainedi was on holiday at
the time spoke to the guy at no time did the guy tell me about a £90 membership
fee or i would have hung up straight away.Today when i spotted the money out my bank account i emailed straight away saying i had not signed up fot this basically a waste of time as same as everyone else they say they are not refunding the fee.Instead they have offered 2 bottle of wine to be added to basket also another offer was £50 added as credit but still refusing to give the £90 back.People stay well clear of this Company me alone i have lost £97.50 and the same as everyone else leaving negative feedback this lot Is raking it in at our expense.

Don’t trust them they took £90 from my bank account

Avoid, avoid, avoid. Took £90 from my account for a service I haven’t used nor intend to use, no notification that the payment would be taken today after being signed up to their app since the 21st July. Raised this with them immediately upon notification that the money had left my bank to be advised that there is nothing they can do as they have the T’s & C’s in 4 places. This is totally human error on my behalf but they are completely unwilling to refund £90 and instead are offering me wine to compensate for taking my money (I know sounds ludicrous that I’m refusing wine). Now usually I’m not the type to complain but this is wild!

I initially just enquired by downloading the app. Unfortunately it requires contact details to be entered. Once I saw there was a £90 annual fee, I was no longer interested; however, in the days since, I have received numerous unsolicited calls on a daily basis, which is completely unwarranted and frankly is blatant harassment! Avoid like the plague.

Alastair Muir

Avoid any dealings with this company. Until you download the app there is no mention that you are now enrolled in a ten day free trial and after this will be charged £90. There is no obvious way to avoid this on the app. To be fair, I emailed them to advise I did not wish to continue and they responded promptly. But since then I have hed repeated emails and now unsolicited calls. This is:
Dishonest by not making the charge much more transparent
Harassment when I have made it clear I wish not be be involved

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEY TAKE MONEY OUT OF YOUR BANK WITHOUT YOU KNOWING. £90 EVERY MONTH DO NOT USE THIS APP TOTAL RIP OFF

SuzieSaysHi

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Please beware. Do your research. They have conned so many people out of money by using deceptive tactics. The £90 membership is most definitely not worth it and the wine is not as cheap as you can buy elsewhere with no membership fee. This company will be closed down within the near future with the amount of complaints being submitted to the Financial Ombudsman.

I am most disappointed in Winedrops, they did not reply to my emails, and worst of all tried to take money with out my permission.

I’m not a customer, I’m a victim of Fraud.

A little while ago my card was charged a surprising £90 fee for a service I hadn’t signed up for, from a company I didn’t know.
After some investigation and a call to the bank, the company in question turned out to be non other than Winedrops, a company that offers wine for less.

Suffering with Alpha One Antitrypsin Deficiency (A1AD) I have both COPD and Hepatomegaly (fatty liver disease and life limiting lung disease as a result of A1AD) suffice to say that the last thing in the world I would drink would be any beverage containing alcohol.

The bank (Virgin Money) were brilliant, and refunded the payment quickly having contacted winedrops and swiftly concluding their investigation. Winedrops then informed the bank that they were going to process a refund, and so the bank took back their money assuring me that winedrops would complete the refund withing three days or less.

However, the refund was never paid. Upon contacting winedrops, team member Joan Joh claimed that the bank had to complete their investigation, yet, the bank had already done this.

Asking the bank, they explained that they had already completed their investigation, and referred me back to Joh, who stuck to their guns and continued to lie to me about the bank needing to complete their investigation.

Joh then proceeded to inform me that it would take another nineteen days for the refund to be processed.

I am currently in the process of obtaining legal representation and taking these criminals to court in the hope this will stop them from doing this to other people!!

Scam! £90 membership charged, no wine. Very obscure on sign up that you get charged automatically and email goes to junk. Poor way to run a company and will not last unless they fix quick.
