Sweeter than expected but incredible flavours.

Scaranto, Bundle of Governo All’Uso Rosso, 2024

Overall, Winedrops offers decent wine at reasonable prices, and I’ve been broadly happy with what I’ve received. That said, my experience hasn’t been without frustrations. Early on, I ran into a number of issues with their app and the ordering process, which took a while to sort out — and while things seem to be working smoothly now, there was no real acknowledgement of the inconvenience caused at the time.

My other gripe is with the way savings are presented. Some of the stated RRPs bear little resemblance to what you can actually find the same wines for elsewhere, which means the advertised discounts can feel inflated and a little misleading. It’s knocked my confidence enough that I now check prices independently before committing to a purchase.

None of this has put me off entirely — the wine itself is good and the core offering is solid — but I’d encourage Winedrops to be more transparent with their pricing. A little honesty goes a long way when it comes to building customer trust.

Easy drinking, melon / honey / stone fruit, medium dry

This was a good bottle, although not overly remarkable considering the price, so 4*. Rich nectarine and pear on the nose, then flinty lemon palate with that long almondy finish. Paired with Bbq lobster and buttery potato salad went down an absolute treat

I’m not usually a big fan of Sauvignon Blanc, but I enjoyed this Sancerre. It was smooth and well-balanced — not too floral, which made it much more drinkable for me.

If you’re also not the biggest SB lover, this one might win you over. That said, if you prefer the super grassy, zingy style, it might feel a bit too restrained.

Either way, I liked it enough that I’d happily buy it again.

Recommended if you want a more elegant, easy-going Sauvignon.

Oaky, red fruit, pleasant enough at £16 but definitely not worth £60!

A lovely Provence rosé that’s exactly what you want on a glorious UK summer evening. Light, fresh, with that classic pale pink colour and delicate berry notes. Not too sweet, not too dry — just spot on.

We’ve been enjoying it with light dinners and al fresco evenings, and it’s been ideal for the weather we’re having right now. If you like Provence rosé, you really can’t go far wrong with this one.

Winedrops offers a solid selection of wines at competitive prices. The annual membership fee is on the steep side, though in practice it encourages you to purchase more bottles to spread the cost — which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you’re a regular wine buyer. Overall, a worthwhile option for those who enjoy exploring different wines without overpaying.

Really impressed with Winedrops overall — the quality and selection are excellent, and it’s easy to see why they’ve built such a loyal following. That said, I did find the shipping costs and membership charges a little unwelcome. These added extras can catch you off guard if you’re not expecting them, and they do take some of the shine off an otherwise positive experience. Worth factoring in before you commit, but the wines themselves are genuinely good.

Bit of a surprise this one! Slightly sweet, but crisp and fresh, juicy and surprisingly crisp and quaffable. Flavours of apple, pear, grapefruit and (this may just be me) asparagus. Sounds weird, but I really like this.
