A decent Tuscan red with plenty of fruit on show, though at this stage it lacks the depth you might hope for at the price. Decanting — or simply leaving it open for a few hours before pouring — makes a noticeable difference, so patience is rewarded. The 2024 vintage feels like it still has some developing to do, and it would be interesting to revisit after a few years in the cellar. Good value in a general sense, but it struggles to fully justify its £48 price tag right now. Worth considering if you’re happy to wait, but perhaps not the one to open on a special occasion just yet.

Amm Roland

Sometimes you just want a wine that doesn’t ask too much of you, and this one fits that bill. Nothing particularly complex or challenging here — it’s straightforward and approachable, the kind of thing you can pour without overthinking it. Amm Roland gave it a middle-of-the-road three stars, which feels about right for something pleasant enough but not especially memorable. A decent option for a casual evening, though those seeking more depth or character might want to look elsewhere.

This wine needs time to open up — don’t be tempted to pour straight from the bottle. Give it a good half hour to breathe and you’ll notice a real improvement. It’s a bit tight and muted at first, but the patience pays off as it settles into something more enjoyable. A solid mid-week option as long as you plan ahead a little.

Jonathan Symonds

Jonathan’s experience with this wine was a study in patience rewarded. Straight from the fridge, it felt flat and a little closed — nothing to write home about. But given some time to warm in the glass, the picture changed noticeably. Flavours emerged, the wine found some character, and it became a more enjoyable drink overall. It’s a decent middle-of-the-road option, but one that asks a little more of you than simply pouring and drinking. If you’re considering a bottle, give it ten or fifteen minutes out of the chill before you judge it too harshly.

David Hill

An unusual one, this. David picked up some surprisingly vivid notes — pineapple, lemon, and a curious celery edge — that made for a distinctive, if slightly puzzling, first impression. The real turning point came when he popped it in the freezer for an extra half hour; at that lower temperature the flavours apparently snapped into focus, delivering something fresh and crisp that he found genuinely enjoyable. It’s not a conventional profile, but if you’re willing to serve it properly cold and embrace its quirks, there’s a lively little wine hiding in here. He’d pour it again, and that feels like the honest measure of it.

Grapefruit was the dominant character here, and honestly it was just a little too much for my palate. I can see that this would appeal to those who enjoy a bold, zesty citrus-driven wine, but it wasn’t quite what I was looking for. A decent enough bottle, and nothing fundamentally wrong with it — it simply didn’t suit my personal taste. Three stars feels fair.

Paul Beard

Paul found this wine perfectly acceptable — nothing more, nothing less. It did the job without offending, but equally without exciting. Sometimes a wine simply sits in that honest middle ground: drinkable, inoffensive, and easy enough to get through, but unlikely to prompt a second bottle. A solid three-out-of-five that won’t linger long in the memory.

This is a pretty textbook example of what the appellation does well — deep, full-bodied, with generous red fruit flavours and that characteristic peppery kick on the finish. There’s nothing here to disappoint, but equally nothing to surprise. Joe puts it well: there are more exciting bottles to be found from the same region if you’re looking to push the boat out. That said, as a reliable, mid-week pour it does the job comfortably. Three stars feels fair — honest and enjoyable, just not exceptional.

This one didn’t quite hit the mark for me, though it wasn’t without its merits. The overall impression was pleasant enough — inoffensive and easy to drink — but lightness was really its defining characteristic, and not always in a good way. The flavours didn’t linger, fading fairly quickly on the finish and leaving little to contemplate. It’s the kind of wine I’d pour without complaint at a casual gathering, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to seek it out again. Perfectly drinkable, just not particularly memorable.

A pleasant enough Zinfandel that ticks the basic boxes, but it hasn’t quite won me over on value grounds. I’ve picked up a couple of bottles from Aldi at roughly half the price that I’d honestly rate more highly — better fruit, more character, or simply more satisfying to drink. There’s nothing wrong with this one as such; it’s a perfectly agreeable glass. But when cheaper alternatives outperform it, it’s hard to make a strong case for paying the premium. Solid rather than exciting, and probably worth trying if you catch it on offer.

I’ll be honest — this one left me a little disappointed. I went in with reasonably high expectations and came away feeling underwhelmed, though I’d struggle to put my finger on exactly what fell short. There was nothing technically wrong with it, but nothing that genuinely excited me either. Sometimes a wine just doesn’t connect, and for me, at this moment, this was one of those. I wouldn’t rule out trying it again under different circumstances, but at a three out of five it sits firmly in the “just okay” category for me. Others may well get more out of it than I did.

David Groves

This wine is decent, but the acidity sits a touch higher than I personally enjoy. That tartness runs through the whole glass and, for me, takes the edge off the experience. I’d imagine it might suit those who prefer a crisper, more lively style — it’s not a flaw so much as a matter of taste. I just tend to lean toward something a little more rounded and softer on the palate. A fair wine overall, but probably not one I’d reach for again.

I picked this one somewhat at random, and my experience was much the same — pleasant enough, but nothing that particularly stood out. It did what a decent rosé should do: easy to drink, inoffensive, and perfectly serviceable for an informal occasion. That said, I’m not sure I found anything that would compel me to reach for it again over the many alternatives out there. A solid middle-of-the-road choice, but for me it lands squarely in the “fine, but forgettable” category. Three stars feels about right.

Martin Lines

Honestly, this one left me a little flat. I was hoping for something with more presence — a fuller body and a bit more to grab onto — but it came across as quite light and thin. Nothing particularly offensive about it, just underwhelming given what I was expecting. Sometimes a wine just doesn’t click with what you’re looking for, and this wasn’t the right fit for me. I won’t be returning to it, but I can imagine it might suit someone who prefers a more delicate, restrained style. For my palate, though, it missed the mark.

Nick Landauer

Honestly, I was hoping for more from this one. The overall impression was a touch thin and watery — not unpleasant exactly, but lacking the body and depth I’d been expecting. It’s perfectly drinkable, but at this price point it felt like it didn’t quite deliver. A mild disappointment rather than anything offensive. I’d probably try a different bottle before writing it off entirely, but I wouldn’t rush back to this one in a hurry.

Paul Laidler

An easy-drinking wine that does the job without complaint. Paul found it perfectly acceptable — smooth enough to enjoy without any real fuss — but felt that at this price point, Winedrops has introduced him to better value elsewhere. Solid rather than exciting, it’s the kind of bottle you wouldn’t mind opening on a casual weeknight, but perhaps wouldn’t rush back to when there are more rewarding options available through the same source. A fair middle-of-the-road choice, nothing more.

Cian Prendergast

A fairly average bottle, if I’m honest. The sulphites were noticeably present on the palate — not overwhelming, but enough to be a distraction throughout. There’s nothing particularly wrong with it, and it’s perfectly drinkable, but nothing here really stood out or left much of an impression. For the price or occasion, I’d probably look elsewhere next time, though I wouldn’t turn down a glass if it were poured. Solidly middle-of-the-road.

Lipika Pelham

I’ll admit my first reaction was mild disappointment — I’d been hoping for something a little more unexpected from a mystery bottle. A Rioja felt like a fairly predictable reveal. That said, once I set aside my expectations and actually got on with drinking it, the wine had plenty going for it. It was full of flavour and certainly easy to enjoy. My reservations are really more about the element of surprise than the wine itself, which was perfectly decent. A solid three stars — good, just not the adventure I was hoping for.

Paul Laidler

I had reasonably high hopes for this one, but it turned out to be a little underwhelming — a solid, perfectly drinkable wine, though nothing that particularly stood out. The issue is perhaps one of comparison: having tried the 770 Mile Rosé, which is genuinely fantastic, this one struggles to make the same impression. It’s not bad by any means, but if you’ve experienced that benchmark, it’s hard not to feel a little shortchanged. Worth a try if you’re curious, but I’d probably reach for the other one first.

Lipika Pelham

There’s a certain freshness here that’s hard to deny — it lifts the wine and gives it an appealing immediacy. But beyond that initial brightness, things feel a little underwhelming. The palate falls somewhat flat, without the complexity or lingering character you might hope for at this price point. It’s pleasant enough for casual sipping, but it doesn’t leave much of an impression once the glass is empty. A decent option if you’re after something light and easy-going, though perhaps not one to seek out again in a hurry.

Helen Holcroft

I had high hopes going in, but this one didn’t quite deliver for me. I’m not sure exactly what I was expecting, but whatever it was, the wine fell a little short. That said, a 3 out of 5 feels fair — it’s not that it was unpleasant, just underwhelming. Sometimes a bottle simply doesn’t live up to the occasion, and this was one of those times. I’d be open to revisiting it in different circumstances, but for now it sits in the ‘decent but forgettable’ category for me.

Philip Otley

This is a straightforward regional Portuguese red that delivers pretty much exactly what you’d hope for. It’s full-bodied and earthy in character — honest, unpretentious wine that feels true to its origins. There’s nothing here that surprises or particularly dazzles, but if you’re familiar with this style you’ll find it comfortably within expectations. For Philip, it hit the mark as a reliable example of the region, and that counts for something. A decent mid-week bottle, perhaps, rather than a special occasion pour. Three stars feels fair.

Eric Tingley

This one left me a little underwhelmed, if I’m being honest. It’s not a bad wine by any means — it does what it sets out to do — but there’s nothing particularly memorable or exciting about it either. Everything feels fairly middle-of-the-road: the flavours are present but unremarkable, and it doesn’t linger in the way you hope a good bottle will. For the price point, I’d probably expect a little more character. Fine for an easy evening pour, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to seek it out again. Solidly average.

Christine

Christine found this wine pleasant enough but wasn’t particularly won over by it. Sometimes a bottle just doesn’t click with your palate, and that seems to be the case here — nothing obviously wrong, but nothing that left a strong impression either. A middling experience overall, and perhaps one better suited to other tastes.

NigelPalmer

This one really wasn’t for me, if I’m honest. The acidity is the dominant feature here — and I mean dominant. By the finish, my tongue was practically tingling in a way that reminded me more of sour sweets than a relaxed glass of wine. Some people actively seek out that kind of bright, mouthwatering sharpness, and if you’re one of them you might well enjoy this. But if you prefer something rounder and more balanced, it’s worth bearing that in mind before you buy. A perfectly drinkable wine in the right context, just not one I’d rush back to personally.

John Millington

On paper, this wine probably shouldn’t work for me. There’s no fruit to speak of — it’s almost entirely mineral-driven, and the profile doesn’t really shift or evolve in the glass. Monotonous, if I’m being honest. And yet, somehow, I keep coming back to it. There’s something almost meditative about that austerity, a quiet stubbornness that I find oddly compelling. I wouldn’t call it an easy drink, and I’m not sure I’d recommend it to everyone. But if you’re in the right mood for something stripped back and uncompromising, it has a strange kind of appeal. Three stars — and I genuinely can’t decide if that’s generous or not.

Michelle

Michelle gave this wine a 3.5 out of 5, landing it firmly in respectable-but-unremarkable territory. While she didn’t elaborate further, that score speaks clearly enough — this is a wine that does what it’s supposed to do without necessarily surprising or delighting. It’s the kind of bottle you’d reach for on a quiet weeknight without any fuss, but perhaps not one you’d seek out again with great urgency. A solid, dependable choice for the right occasion, even if it didn’t leave a lasting impression.

Michelle

Michelle gave this wine a 3.5 out of 5, which feels like a fair landing spot — not quite a crowd-pleaser, not a disappointment either. It sits comfortably in the middle: decent enough to finish the glass, but perhaps not one you’d rush back to. Sometimes a wine doesn’t need to be remarkable to do its job at the table, and this one seems to fill that role adequately. Worth a try if you’re curious, but temper your expectations accordingly.

Michael White

This was a perfectly pleasant champagne, though it didn’t leave much of an impression. The dryness was a highlight — clean and crisp on the palate — but beyond that it felt a little one-dimensional. There wasn’t much complexity to explore, and it didn’t have the depth or character you might hope for at this level. Not a bad bottle by any means, just a fairly ordinary one. Fine for a casual occasion, but unlikely to be something I’d seek out again.

Nick Hall

This one wasn’t quite to my taste — there’s an edginess to it that I found a little hard to get past. It’s not unpleasant as such, and I can imagine it might suit someone who enjoys a more pronounced acidity or a leaner style, but for me it came across as sharper than I’d like. A decent enough wine, but not one I’d rush back to.
