90 pounds deducted out of my account! Same as other reviews, I knew nothing about it. Hidden in small print!!
Won’t be using them again

Scam. Was charged £90 without permission. Did not receive any emails explaining the subscription terms. Now refusing to refund the £90 - contacting Amex to perform chargeback. Unethical, disgusting and nothing but a SCAM! Shame on you!

I had £90 taken from my account, and I had no idea that I even signed up for a free trial. I wasn’t clear when entering my details; I genuinely thought it was only required if I made a purchase of wine, similar to the Amazon app. I’m a single dad and need that £90 for my son’s birthday, which is in less than two weeks. I’m begging you, please, it’s been less than 24 hours since the money was taken out. They have asked I call so hopefully we can sort this out

Very deceptive practice to get money from people. They dupe you into getting £90 from you. I am in the process of trying to get this refunded. I hope to be able to write a more positive review once my money is refunded.

Been absolutely scammed!! Downloaded the app and I had to make an account to log in to have a look at wines. Then got charged £90!!! How inconsistent. Terrible app. It clearly says on the app if you do NOT WANT TO GET CHARGED PLEASE CANCEL SUBSCRIPTION! Then they still charge you

Absolute scam. Downloaded the app and cancelled the next day- didn’t receive a notification but assumed it was done. I’ve now been charged £90 for an annual fee. Contacted for refund and then given £50 credit. When looking at wine; it you add to cart then you can’t remove and you commit to purchasing, but it won’t be sent until you have 6 bottles and then they charge for delivery. All the wine is falsely overpriced. Total scam of a business.

When you call me regarding a download of the app and enquiry about why I didn’t sign-up, don’t just hang up halfway through the conversation. I had a couple of questions. Terrible. I’ll let my mates know what a scam this is.

Just like everyone else, £90 charged from app. I am glad to some degree I wasn’t the only one who got caught off guard by this as I was begin to think I was going a bit crazy!
I emailed as soon as the unauthorised £90 came out my account (within 24 hours) and so waiting to see if Jonny will sort this out or if there will be an issue.

It seems like a great business model to do and if in the future when a membership fee is something I could afford I would have considered it but advertising it as a cheap wine alternative and not making a £90 fee clear is feels unethical.

I’ve frozen my card so they wont be getting unauthorised payments anyways.

Also not sure how it let me buy wine with out the membership…..

Sad to say, avoid buying unless very aware of the fee and can afford that.

Total scam. My phone auto filled my card details. Then I got charged 90 for a membership. No win delivered and won’t refund. Even though it says on the website they will if you cancel in 24 hours.

Beware of WINEDROPS! SCAMMERS!
I came across their ad on Instagram and downloaded the App. Although I didn’t initially place an order, I received a call offering a free trial. The ordering process was confusing—each time I added a bottle to the cart, it charged me immediately. This left no room to add more items or change my mind. While the order arrived quickly, I made sure to cancel my account before the £90 subscription fee was charged. Despite this, they charged me anyway! I’ve reached out to their customer service but received unsatisfactory responses. I’ve now initiated a bank dispute to try and recover my money.

Like everyone else reviewing, was scammed of £90.

Emailed with no response, have started the chargeback process with my credit card provider.

Have reported to Instagram & Ombudsman about blatant miss selling & false advertising.

Avoid at all costs.

This business model is outrageous.

Scammers in all honesty. Don’t sign up to them. Rob you of money left right and centre and then say they will refund you but don’t!

Disaster!! Joined windrops ,paid the £90 fee and have to say the massive discount they claim go give you are a bit of a hoax, yes the high prices quoted are often real but also they are often resturant prices and when you search for the same wines online you can usually find them a pound or so more ….but if you factor in you have just paid £90 and then add the delivery charge you save nothing ….cancelled my membership after a couple of months no chance of a refund…lesson learned ….Tom S

Words just fail me! I received a call yesterday from a rude and incredibly pushy woman questioning why I’d not proceeded with the registration I’d started! What the hell? She was trying to push me into completing my details, when I told her I had no intention of doing so, her attitude came across as quite aggressive and arrogant. I had explained that the idea of agreeing to £90 being taken from my account to potential buy wine I’d not even been able to see, was not for me, it just didn’t sit right at all. I believe this site should be avoided, it’s just outrageous.

Do not even bother signing up to them charge you £90 without common courtesy. Steal your money without you knowing so or agreeing to it. They can’t own up to there mistakes. It is NOT clear anywhere on there website that they charge this fee. Even thought they say they make it clear. There app is pants. They put misleading messages everywhere in their adverts. They don’t fully refund you because they give you the £45 of it back to use on their website making profit out of the money they have stolen. I will continue to fight my corner because this is disgusting customer service. I have contacted the FOS (financial ombudsman service). Find it amusing how they write they will issue a full refunds in some of there reviews in comments but don’t follow through with a procedure. I have told people word of mouth to watch out for this scam! I will keep on fighting to get my full refund back ! Not having it!!

Complete Scam! Awful customer service! Do not use this company!

I signed up for Wine drops to see what the range have to offer. They asked for my car details, claiming that you “build a basket” which will be charged when you have 6 bottles. After having look, I wasn’t interested in any of the bottles so I closed the app. After a week or so I get charged £90 without warning, it turns out the “savings” are actually covered by a membership fee which is how they offer lower prices. When I challenged this, I was met with a disinterested customer service assistant who “on this special occasion” was able to offer me £50 credit, no refunds, no interest in keeoing the customer happy.

Complete Scam.

AVOUD SCAM, SCAMMERS SLY AND UNFAIR.
I wish I’d looked at the reviews! Like so many other users, I have been charged a £90 membership fee despite only downloading the app browsing and then deleting the app. Bear in mind I did not sign up to this. I never agreed to a subscription. No small print and no warnings of taking a charge of £90. No warnings in there adverts and short company video.
I downloaded the app because it was heavily promoted on Instagram.
Completely unclear when you sign up that a fee will be taken whether you order or not. I have emailed and requested a refund and contacted my bank in warning this is a scam website and will continue to warn people that they are false advertising. The app is complete and utter shit.
I have requested a refund - as the charge was only made today, their website states they will make a refund (if a complaint is raised in 24 hrs).
A true case of Buyer Beware!!
I will be continuing to spread the awareness on there instagram to potential buyers and review on other review websites. THEY WILL NOT GET AWAY WITH THIS!! ANGRY AND FRUSTRATED. Do not trust them at all. I expect the full refund to be made! And not a half arsed amount. As I say I did not agree to any of this !!

Get charged 90£ for nothing!! They don’t make their membership at all clear and it comes up with £0.00 when it asked me to pay. Disgusting. Let’s home I can sort this review out with some acceptable customer service…

I had to Google “winedrops” to find out what this is.

Their business model doesn’t appeal to me at all. The website is very low on real detail, and you can’t see what wines they offer (or even examples of deals they’ve offered in the past) without signing up to a free trial. It’s £90 per year to join after the trial (which I couldn’t find any hint of on their website - I had to Google for it) with no guarantee that you’ll like the wine they sell. According to them, you’d have to spend £300/year with winedrops to make your investment back (surely this depends on the size of the discount they’re offering?), all without knowing if you’ll like their selection before signing away your personal information. You have to phone them to cancel, which in this day and age can only be an intentional tactic to inconvenience customers who want to leave. Delivery appears to be £6.99 (again, not on their website - I found that in a review) which is going to eat into any potential savings. Their Trust Pilot reviews are very positive, to be fair to them, but I didn’t see any reviews that actually talked about specific wines and the savings involved so it makes me wonder how knowledgable their customers actually are about wine.

I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole, personally. I suspect the “savings” are immaterial at best when set against delivery costs and membership fees. I’d much rather stick to something like the Wine Society, with full transparency and where I don’t feel like I have to spend money to get the value of my membership fee back.

This is a very dodgy company and you should avoid them. I signed up and because they have not invested in a payment gateway, managed to use sandbox test card details to create my membership - So take that Johnny, no £90 charge for me! So just that everyone is aware, they have no way of verifying any card details entered at the time you create the account. Just find test card details from the web if desperate.

After I got the account I looked at the wine deals. They were the same price on Amazon, so I deleted my account.

However, the next few days - I got absolutely harassed my call after call trying to find out why I left. I told the last guy to remove my number and he said, “suit yourself.” Rude. Avoid avoid avoid. And I will be looking into what regulates this company.

Just had £90 taken out of my account when I didn’t think I had completed my membership.

Not keen on this happening. Winedrops do not appear to have a Customer Service Phone number. I have been rung a number of times on what appears to be a mobile number. When I have rung it back it does not work. All feels dodgy. The number I was called on was 07457 409949.

I also have an email from Jonny founder of Winedrops dated 17/07/24 asking me why I had not completed the sign up?

Very confused as to how they can take my money when I wasn’t aware I had signed up.
