Dave found this one a little disappointing. His main gripe was the closure — he felt it odd that a Portuguese wine would forgo a traditional cork, which seemed to colour his experience before he’d even taken a sip. And the wine itself didn’t do much to win him over from there. It wasn’t to his taste, though he keeps things gracious and doesn’t labour the point. Sometimes a bottle just doesn’t click, and for Dave, this was one of those times. A fair two stars.

Honestly, this one just didn’t work for me. The oak was the dominant impression from start to finish, and it overshadowed everything else in the glass. I couldn’t get past it. If you enjoy heavily oaked wines, you might feel differently — but for my palate, it was simply too much. I’d be hesitant to try it again.

I had reasonably high expectations here, given how much character Portuguese reds can deliver, but this one fell a little flat for me. The wine came across as bland, missing that lively, punchy quality that tends to make wines from this region so appealing. It’s not that it was unpleasant — just underwhelming. I’d struggle to recommend it when there are so many more expressive options out there at a similar price point. Perhaps it would suit someone who prefers a more restrained style, but for me personally, it simply didn’t hit the mark.

A straightforward Primitivo that does what it says on the tin — no more, no less. There’s nothing particularly wrong with it, but there’s nothing that makes you stop and take notice either. It sits comfortably in the realm of the everyday, the kind of wine you might reach for without much thought and finish without much reflection. For those seeking something with a bit more character or depth from the Primitivo grape, it may feel a little underwhelming. Perfectly drinkable, but unlikely to leave a lasting impression.

I wanted to enjoy this, but unfortunately it wasn’t for me. The dominant impression was bitterness, with a sharp, sour edge that never really let up throughout the glass. There was no sense of balance or softness to counteract it, and I found it difficult to drink. To be fair, taste is entirely personal, and some may appreciate a wine with this kind of assertive, acidic character — but for my palate, it simply didn’t work. I wouldn’t reach for it again.

Darren came away unimpressed with this one, and sometimes that’s all there is to say. Taste is deeply personal, and this wine simply didn’t click for him. Without more detail it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what fell flat — the structure, the flavour profile, or something else entirely — but the verdict was clear enough: this isn’t one he’d return to. Worth bearing in mind if your palate tends to align with his preferences, though of course others may feel quite differently. Two stars out of five.

This wine left me feeling shortchanged. If you’re already a fan of 19 Crimes then you’ll probably enjoy it — there’s a similar style here — but for me it missed the mark entirely. The quality simply didn’t justify the price, and that’s hard to ignore when you know there are genuinely better bottles sitting on supermarket shelves for considerably less, especially if you’re making use of a loyalty scheme. It’s not undrinkable, but it’s the kind of wine that makes you wish you’d spent your money elsewhere. Disappointing overall.

Jake received two bottles in his order — a Rioja and an alcohol-free Sauvignon Blanc — and the experience was a bit of a mixed bag, to put it generously. While one delivered exactly what he was hoping for, the other fell well short of expectations. It doesn’t take much imagination to work out which was which. For anyone considering the alcohol-free option, Jake’s experience suggests it may not be worth the gamble. A frustrating outcome when half your order misses the mark.

Craig was disappointed with this one, and it’s hard to argue with that kind of gut feeling. As someone who normally enjoys Primitivo, he had reasonable expectations coming in — but this particular bottle just didn’t deliver. No specific faults are called out, simply a sense that it fell flat and failed to offer the warmth or character the variety usually brings. Sometimes a wine just doesn’t connect, and that seems to be the case here. Probably worth exploring other producers before writing off the grape entirely.

Honestly, this was the most disappointing wine I’ve ordered from Winedrops — and I wasn’t expecting much by the end. It just felt underwhelming from start to finish, without the character or depth I was hoping for. To make matters worse, I only discovered after the fact that it isn’t actually a classified Rioja, which felt like important information that should have been made clearer upfront. That kind of thing does knock confidence a little. Not one I’d revisit or recommend.

I have to be honest — this one left me disappointed. I’m not sure exactly what I was expecting, but it didn’t deliver. Sometimes a wine just doesn’t click with you, and unfortunately that was the case here. I won’t be returning to this bottle.

This wine has a sauvignon blanc character to it, which I appreciate, but it falls a bit short of being memorable. It’s perfectly drinkable—there’s nothing off-putting about it—but it didn’t excite me. I was hoping for more complexity or depth. It’s the kind of wine that works fine for a casual evening, but I wouldn’t rush to order it again. For the price point, I expected something with a bit more character.

I went in with high expectations, but this wine fell short of what I was hoping for. The flavours didn’t come together the way I anticipated, and overall it just didn’t make much of an impression on me. It’s not that there’s anything obviously wrong with it—it’s just underwhelming. If you’re looking for something with more character and depth, you might want to explore other options in this category.

This wine has an interesting character that caught me off guard. While there’s something unconventional about the aftertaste—a quality that’s a bit unusual for my palate—it manages to be genuinely pleasant overall. It’s the kind of wine that makes you pause and reconsider your initial reaction. If you enjoy wines that aren’t entirely predictable and don’t mind a distinctive finish, this could be worth exploring. Just know going in that it’s not a straightforward drinking experience.

I was really let down by this one. The nose was very raspberry-forward, which felt a bit one-dimensional, and I found it lacking the richness I’d expect from this varietal. It didn’t deliver what I was hoping for, and I won’t be reaching for it again.

This wine reminded me of Ribena—overly sweet and one-dimensional. There’s not much complexity here, and for what you’re paying, you’d expect more nuance and depth. It’s the kind of drink that doesn’t evolve on the palate or reveal anything interesting as it warms up. If you’re after something with character and balance, I’d look elsewhere. There are better options in this price range that actually justify the cost.

I’m uncertain whether this bottle had been compromised in storage, but the wine simply didn’t deliver. Whatever the cause, the experience left me unconvinced. The flavors fell flat where I’d hoped for something more interesting, and the overall impression was forgettable rather than engaging. I won’t be revisiting this one—there are too many other options worth exploring instead.

I was hoping for more from this one. It’s a fairly straightforward pour, but unfortunately it lacks the depth and complexity I look for. There’s not much character to speak of—it comes across as rather neutral and forgettable. For the price point, I’d expect a bit more personality and actual flavor development. It’s drinkable enough, but it doesn’t leave much of an impression. I’d probably skip it next time and look for something with more going on.

This one didn’t hit the mark for me. It came across as a bit too sweet, and the overall profile reminded me of some cheaper alternatives I’ve tried before. While I understand it may appeal to other palates, it’s not something I’d reach for again. There are other options out there that align better with what I’m looking for in a wine.

This wine didn’t work for me. The fruit-forward profile was overwhelming, leaving little room for nuance or balance. The flavors came across as one-dimensional, and I found myself wishing for more complexity on the palate. If you prefer wines that lead heavily with fruit, you might enjoy this more than I did, but it wasn’t what I was looking for in a glass. I’d probably pass on it next time.

This is a perfectly fine wine—nothing wrong with it—but I’d struggle to justify paying full price here when you can grab it at the supermarket for significantly less. If you catch a bulk discount (6 bottles for 25% off), you’re looking at roughly £4 cheaper per bottle. For everyday drinking, it does the job, but without that saving, there are better options out there at the same cost.

This one didn’t work out for my palate. I found the flavor profile to be quite unusual—it had notes and characteristics that felt a bit off for what I was expecting. While I can appreciate that it might appeal to others with different tastes, it simply wasn’t my cup of tea. Not a bad wine by any means, just one that didn’t resonate with me personally.

Unfortunately, this wine didn’t meet expectations. While drinkable, it lacked the character and depth we were looking for at this price point. The flavors felt a bit flat and one-dimensional, leaving us wanting more complexity on the finish. It’s not a bad bottle by any means, just didn’t deliver the wow factor we’d hoped to find.

I found this wine to be quite thin on the palate with an unpleasant bitter finish. The flavors lacked depth and complexity, leaving me underwhelmed. While I appreciate wines with good structure and interesting character, this one simply didn’t deliver on either front. It’s not really something I’d reach for again or recommend to friends.

I was excited after that first glass—it started well, but things quickly took a turn. By the second glass, an unpleasant aftertaste emerged that really didn’t work for my palate. It’s a shame because the initial impression was promising, but I couldn’t get past that lingering finish. Not what I was hoping for overall.

I have to agree with the negative comments about transparency. I ordered via Instagram advert and there was no mention of membership or the £119 fee. It was only when I used the app and saw the membership. It feels like a scam. Now there are many positive reviews and probably many happy people. But my initial impressions and the bombardment of emails makes the whole endeavour feel very scammy. If they were clearer with their marketing I think the whole business would be improved. It’s odd that on the app its says that over 800 have re-joined the membership? Why did they leave??

I ordered 6 bottles of 4 different wines and haven’t enjoyed one. They are all wines I regularly drink and were competitively priced bit awful. I won’t be using again. However, the ease of the app and the delivery and communication were good

I’ve had some mixed experience with Winedrops. My first couple of boxes arrived without issue. Sadly, I’ve been waiting over 2.5 weeks for my next box, there’s been no response to my emails and there’s been no refund of my delivery charge or wine. I’ve tried reaching out and no-one has gotten back to me. Be careful when ordering.

This review is mainly about the delivery service and the company they
use (DHL)
Ok the wine they supply is very good but it is no good when it cannot be delivered either in time or damaged in transit and has to be returned to them.
My suggestion is to ,1 improve the internal package protection ,2change to a more reliable delivery company.

The idea seems great and 15,000 members cant be wrong but what I need is the ability to check out a specific wine type for example I wish to buy a Red Shiraz but cant find any and or no way of finding one!!!
