Deceptive Advertising
After singing up for many months, this app (and its advertising methods) are definitely not for me.

The big ‘grab your attention’ adverts on social media (and still present), naming some very big/popular brand I’ve never seen, except one which was on sale on the day I joined only.

The claimed discounts are deceptive. I did my homework and Winedrops is comparing its prices and claimed discounts to the very top/highest prices of what’s available online – I got in contact and fed this back, and the response was very copy/paste generic of ‘everyone does it’.

I’ve given them 3 stars because the app is great to use, there ‘cellar’ method is genius (you build up your own cellar and can dispatch when you wish – saving on delivery costs), and the selection of unique wines is good – but if you’re here for the big claimed discounts on big popular brands, you’re wasting your time.

This app is great. You do get some fantastic discounts on a pot-luck variety of wines which is certainly worth it, but despite this there are some extra costs. You are charged £90 for an annual membership and there is a charge per case of wine for shipping, starting at £6.99 for a case of 6. This is where the heavy ‘discount’ is made up, which I feel is still excellent value but not transparent enough in the sign up process, at least in my experience.However, I have had some fantastic wines in as a result, and I do like that they are stored on your behalf until you choose to ship as it makes it much easier to spread the cost or to have more time to review your choices.Overall fantastic.

Since I joined, Winedrops has gone beyond what I expected in terms of wine choice, quality and value for money. Oh, their customer service is phenomenal!

Easy, great value. A really good app.

I was apprehensive at first, but the service has been good and a quick delivery. The £90 for the year was explained to me but the fact that it was non refundable was not until after I had paid it. Also it adds the bought bottles to your “cellar” which does not automatically dispatch them until you get to 6 bottle or you dispatch them manually. But it charges your bank there and then. Again this was not explained I had to work ot out myself.

Bit of a hiccup to begin with but all sorted out via a very helpful phone call. Haven’t tasted wine yet!
