About Albariño

Albariño is the flagship white grape of Galicia, particularly thriving in the Rías Baixas DO of northwestern Spain. With its saline minerality, vibrant acidity, and citrusy aromatics, it perfectly mirrors the coastal Atlantic climate where it grows. The grape is also widely planted in northern Portugal, especially in the Vinho Verde region, where it is called Alvarinho.

Its thick skins protect it from maritime humidity, and its wines are typically aromatic, crisp, and slightly textured, making Albariño ideal for pairing with seafood and summer fare. In recent years, its popularity has grown globally, with plantings in California, Australia, and Uruguay.
