About Airén
Historically used in blends or distilled into brandy, Airén is now being reconsidered by modern winemakers who are crafting fresh, easy-drinking wines that highlight the grape’s subtle floral and orchard fruit notes. While not as aromatic or structured as some whites, Airén is beloved in Spain for its lightness, drinkability, and food-pairing versatility.
Airén is Spain’s most widely planted white grape, and for many years it was the most planted grape in the world by acreage. It thrives in the arid plains of Castilla-La Mancha, where its drought resistance and high yields made it ideal for bulk wine production.
